I've been putting some miles on my 84' Honda Sabre 700. It has a great motor. I bought my first one in May of 82' and the current one is an 84'. I have the Hondaline sport touring set up and I've changed the fork springs and installed a CBR1100xx Blackbird shock in the rear. It is a great all-around bike with around 80hp after a couple tweaks. It pulls all the way to the 10.5k rpm redline.
It will do long rides or go to the store. It has a low center of gravity and a low seat height. I keep the Sabre pointed at the door during the winter months, around here you never know when a nice day will show up.

I like that Hondaline touring fairing, could it have been designed by Vetter?

Nope it's a Honda design. They used it on a few different bikes like the V65 Sabre, 900F and the CBX.

Comfortable looking Sabre. Bags and fairing look just like my latter year CBX.

A friend of mine who owned one of those and an earlier model CBX also always felt that the later ones were superior going down the road as far as suspension and other details.

Very nice ride!!!

A random question I suppose, do you (or any others here) carry a firearm on long rides into unknown, out of the way areas?

I know a guy who lives by me that I have ridden with before and he won't leave the house unless he is "strapped up". Legal here in Michigan. My son and his wife have a permit to do so if they want but have never seen him carry. I had a folding knife in a pouch on my belt loop under my t-shirt when I went to the fair this week to see the Lynyrd Skynyrd (no original members) band. Got scanned when going and a lady asked if I had a pocketknife and showed her some keys. Did not know it wasn't allowed and now I can say I am truly a badass !!  ;D ;D

Great pics as usual, Greg.

Thanks Scott.  Here is another one of the old farmhouse.

I almost bought a V11 Le Mans several years ago.  I kind of wish I had followed through.  Nice pic.

Don't ask, don't tell.  ;)  This made me think of friends we had when we lived in Alaska back in the late '70s who were from New York City.  Talk about fishies out of water.  They were the stereotypical New Yorkers who had never seen a cow before.  They bought a house out in Palmer because that was where they could afford to buy.  But they were nervous because there were no street lights, which made them feel insecure.  They sold out not long after and went back to NYC where they felt 'safer.'  Anyway, the point being it is pretty safe out in the middle of nowhere generally.

a couple of my friends have had eldorados in the past and liked them but one discovered the joys of illicit opiates and the other prefers his Macintosh or on a really good day his Bimota

another friend currently has a V7 ( the earlier 750 version ) he loves it, but after a lifetime of scooters and then a 500 triumph thats no major surprise
i blame Terry

Nice!

I was out on this Italian gem last evening.   1974 Ducati 750GT.   I finally got around to mounting the Kiehin stainless Conti replica exhaust and new tank badges.  I just need to get the side cover badges mounted, and it will be done, cosmetically, finally.   Next job will be dual-disc conversion up front.

The fuel tank that was on it when I got had some poorly repaired rust on it that bubbled up badly within a few weeks of me owning it and putting fuel it.  The guy who restored and painted it before I got it didn't get a chance to get fuel in it before he sadly passed away.    So, I procured a rust-free tank, and had it painted to match.     A local friend's brother has a body/paint business and does great work as you can see in these close-ups.

I do not know if dual discs was a factory option for the GT, but, I think it was standard on the Sport, which uses the same frame, and I believe fork.

The fork on my bike has mounts for a second caliper.  I have already purchased a pair of floating rotors for it, just need to get the second caliper and brake lines + double banjo to complete.

Some cool bikes popping up in this thread.

Here is the Road King yesterday up Idaho 21 on a perfect day for riding -

Along the Salmon River south of Stanley -

The Sawtooth Mountains in the background -

Usually there are a lot of travelers at this scenic overlook for obvious reasons, but was empty so I stopped and took a pic -

More pretty pictures -
