  MoMo,
Dropping a bike in the shop is a heartbreaker for sure. I've done it twice ( slow learner I suppose), few things can knock the wind from your sails like that, especially when such care has been taken on a project that could help others get through  a dark and uncertain time in their lives.
Yes the project has taken a step back. So.   It sounds like the man behind the project still believes in the cause. And I must say, I'm proud to be  on a forum where members are willing to do what you are doing to make a difference. A difference in a stranger's life that has been affected by such a life robbing disease as cancer. I applaud your thought and effort. It's selfless, it's honest , and  people like you are proof that there is still goodness in this world.
We all suffer from  days when nothing is going right.  We try to push through it and sometimes bad stuff happens. Some days are better than others. Tomorrow will be a new day, a chance to put yesterday behind us, a chance make things work even better than they would have in the first place.
I don't know, but I think the spark to finish this project is still there, and it sounds like you are re evaluating at the damage and slipping your mind back into a forward gear. I could be wrong, but it sounds like that. Whatever you decide to do, I just wanted to thank you for undertaking such a project  and the meaning behind it.        RB

Thank you for the kind encouraging words RB.   It inspired me to put the bike back on the lift and continue work.  I put a stock header and exhaust on that I had laying around. The bike now runs nice and smooth with no hesitaiton(it had a MAC header with a Dunstall exhaust and ran crappy in midrange).  Now it is fine.  However................................the new permanent position of the kick starter.  All I can say is WTF gives with this bike??????

Hopefully the kickstarter is something easy to fix. Unfortunately it is going to require pulling the motor apart to get the stupid offending part replaced. So much work for a simple problem most likely.  This bike just wants to fight you every step of the way.
Makes you want a tall cliff to send it on to bike heaven or hell, whatever it deserves...

got a call that the frame has been welded on The Pink Panther. All I'll need to do is order a new exhaust, remount the speedo(I don't wear one) and it should be ready for sale/auction.  Going to pick it up tomorrow

Bike is back in the shop, ordered exhaust from DSS today. According to the site they are back in stock. Muffler should be the last item and the bike will be ready to go bye-bye after God knows how many hours of work

Larry,
Have you ever purchased a repop CB400F muffler from DSS before? how similar is it as far as internal baffles/tuning,etc. compared to the stock oem Honda muffler ?
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !

No I never have but it sure looks the same in the site photo.  Be able to give more info when it gets here.  It will look a lot better than the holey pipe presently on the bike and hopefully won't present any tuning problems like the MAC header and Dunstall exhaust did...Larry

The muffler came yesterday within a week or so from the day I ordered it, but I forgot to order new gasket :-[   Will post some photos when I get home, it looks great visually.  Still waiting on the speedo bracket and I guess I'll be waiting on a gasket if I don't have one hidden in my shop...Larry

I found an exhaust sleeve that came with an Emgo muffler I bought that should work as "gasket". If it doesn't, I can get one off eBay for 10 with free shipping.  Some photos of the new DSS muffler-cost was about 165. I bought the muffler, a rear lift handle, air filter and air filter retaining spring-total was 220 with shipping.

Nice quality

Nice bike porn...but you really want to put that on the one you are selling?  I would want to put that on the bike I'm keeping.  You'll never recoup the cost if it is sold...unless someone appreciates that expense and others invested in the bike.

I do not have a decent exhaust for Ver. 8, since everything on the Pink bike is top shelf(except maybe the tires) the pipe goes there.  Actually, might buy another for Ver. 9. thank y'all for following along

Well...........over the weekend I took ver. 8 out for an extended test ride-130 miles.  However, when I got back braking was minimal and the disc was black.  I had rebuilt the caliper who knows when with a new seal and one of Kevin's phenolic pistons. So I had to remove the caliper, clean and reinstall-then went for a 50 mile ride today and all is well.  Bit of primary chain noise but bike runs well. I never put the center stand on because it was bent. Straightening the stand, painting it and installing and the bike should be ready to go. That is.....................

unless it falls off the lift again. Photos to come...Larry

Pics to prove, and after only 3 years ::) :-[

Honda Silverwing control along with Magura clutch bracket and lever.  Only problem is the minimal clearnance  on the lever to control makes finding neutral a bit difficult.

.

Yamaha TX500 headlight and turn signals.  Cheap aftermarket headlight brackets ???

My special pedestrian slicer ::)

Header is in fair condition

More to come

Drilled front disc,  took less than an hour with the Delta drill press I got real cheap($5?) at a local auction. Caliper rebuilt with one of Kevin's phenolic pistons and a new seal. Had to do it twice though.

Another Silverwing control and Magura lever-I like the bent in power shape. All new cables and bar end mirrors.

Speedo bracket made by the local Amish aluminum shop that keeps ripping me off. I gave him the pattern and he fabricated the bracket out of 1/8 aluminum-had the nerve to charge me $10 ::)  Norman Hyde handlebars-yep, the bent down style is awesome for my bad wrist and back :P

There will still be more as I need to post photos so Stev-o believes it is finished ::)

She's pretty. I hope she brings a good bit of money for you or for cancer research if it is going to a Cancer Research fundraiser auction.

Thank you.   Still undecided where to donate.  After reading how much some of the CEO's of fundraisers make my plan is not completed.  Anyone ever done this ?
