Actually, David, I will ride the bike until it passes my test criteria-that is at least a 100 miles.  I'm 5'7" and somewhere around 170, anyone taller than 6' does look somewhat odd on the 400.  Vers.  2 and 3 were purchased from 6'2" man, who made the bike look small,  and wanted to sell because he felt awkward just sitting on the bike...Larry

Well, I would make it look tiny at 6'4" and 300

I wonder how the CB450 and the CB400 fare in size?

I'm 6"4 @ 220 lbs, and I feel that the CB450 fits me like a glove...I love the "strapped in" feeling I get with it. I certainly ain't riding 2 up on it though (my ass is basically towards the rear of the seat so there's no room for someone else). I wouldn't want a bike smaller than the CB450, either. To me, it's like the 2-seater sports car, and I love the feeling that it gives me riding it. I take up all the space, but that's the point...

fenders,  the 400 feels way smaller than a 450, which is not much smaller than a 750.

David,  you may be just a tad too big for a 400.  At work all for now...Larry

Thanks Larry. That's good information to know. That means no CB400 for me, ever.

Larry, send me those I will strip the faded anodized finish and polish them for you. Strip the electrical out of them before sending... Just cover return shipping is all I ask.

Thanks for the offer David but the switches are not worth beautifying-both sides had holes drilled in them so the wires could pass externally rather than thru the bars.

New grips received from wowbagger(aka Prince formerly known as Wowbagger). I am trying to get as much exterior house painting done while the weather is still decent so Ver. 8 will be put on the back burner for the time being.  And yes.....................................................still Waiting For Godot ??? ??? ???...Larry

Rain????  Only been raining steady for 6 or so hours, lucky I didn't take the PC to work..   While waiting on the tank I may push this bike to the side and start on a 750 project that only has been laying around  for a year or two.  I have one 750 that runs  well sans title and a titled 750 with a bad motor and horrendous wiring(the PO added a Dyna, monstrous horns and super bright headlight).  It'll be the big switcheroo-contents of one bike to another

Good bike minus title

Bad bike with title

The Lesters probably will not be used and become available( 19 front and 18 rear ;D)...Larry

I already have business cards, basic ones from Vistaprint.  Maybe when I use them up I'll spring for the extra bucks to have the logo imprinted.  Hope all is well David...Larry

Still nothing from the painter so I spent an hour or so with a spare tank I have and several cans of spray paint.  Ignore the red as it will be pink and I only had red.  I think the large middle white stripe should also be pink.

Plan is to put the ribbon logo in the middle and the Norton style Honda font either in silver or pearl white in the large pink area.  Same logo as on my white bike.

Fenders will be white with pink stripes or white with a 3/4" pink border around the perimeter.    Maybe if I give this to the painter he'll get off his butt.  I have a feeling that since I gave him free creative reign he has been hesitant to start...Larry

What shade of pink?  Bubblegum, Pepto Bismol or cotton candy?

https://www.google.com/search?q=bubblegum+pink&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=qIw_UpWBGofU9ASFxoG4BQ&ved=0CCoQsAQ&biw=1240&bih=551&dpr=1

The shade of pink that is used for the cancer ribbons, hats, gloves, etc. will be used....Larry

Any thoughts?   This is a spare tank done with a very quick rustoleum rattle can application.  Cancer ribbon will be in the middle stripe and the Norton style logo on my white 400 will either be white or silver.   I think the silver stripes are too bold(should be lighter)...Larry

First, gorgeous!  However, I agree with your assessment...the stripes are a bit too dark but I do like the overall color scheme.  Also really like that shade of pink as I've seen several used even with the Cancer logo and ribbon.  I'm thinking the Honda/Norton script should be white but I am not great at these things.  I suppose you could make a case for the silver lettering standing out more...better not take my advice.  It's going to be gorgeous; wish I was a girl or that my wife was a rider.  Uh, let's go with the second option.

I would agree the stripes are not the right shade. A brighter silver stripe might look better. Wonder what a red stripe would look like?
Would the cancer ribbon beneath the Honda script look good?

Thanks Lyle.   I will be leaving  in several minutes to take the tank idea over to the painter.  I think the script will be white as it would imply the paint is showing through the pink side panel.  The silver stripes are the same paint I used on the frame but the stripes are too bold-kind of looks like a vintage football helmet.

David do you mean the large center stripe could be red?  Like the red of Red Ryder?  I plan to put  one ribbon on the center stripe and one on each side cover.  Off to the painter.  And, yes, I am still Waiting For Godot...Larry

I am wondering if instead of silver stripes what the stripes would look like in red with the pink and white.
Or a red stripe between the silver stripes.
Might be overpowering...
A burgundy red might be better than a bright red...
Just a thought.

Is the silver on the tank the same shade as the frame silver?  Would tie it together if it were...

No offense but I think any red might starting making it look like a Valentine bike, rather than the breast cancer theme.  Just my .02.

Good point.  Red would look good but detract from the theme of the bike.  If cancer awareness was not the issue I'd go with pink, silver, red and white.   I showed Robert(the painter) my mockup and he said it is very similar to what he had in mind, except he plans to make the side pink panel smaller, use a metallic pink and maybe have a stripe around it. The stripes down the center will be continued down both fenders.

It looks good but what about making the stripes on top pink, the side panels white and try to work the actual pink ribbon into the Honda logo itself somehow?
