Engine stand
« on: August 15, 2006, 05:43:38 PM »
I'm looking to adapt a car engine stand for a CB750. I found this http://www.cyclexchange.net/index%20pics/jim%20and%20motor%201.JPG any other ideas? Is there a reason the arms are not horizontal?

I have a CB550 motor hanging from a Harbor Freight auto engine stand. Just took 4 pieces of angle iron with holes drilled in, and two long bolts+nuts. I have it hung from the upper & lower rear motor mounts.

(Also 4 bolts+nuts holding the angles on via the swinging mount arms)

BTW: Thanks again for the grease!  ;D

Last week I made a engine stand to assist me when building my 650 motor.  Instead of using two bolts at the back of the engine, I just used the upper engine hole.  This would allow me to remove the bottom case half while on the stand and work on the crank, rods and tranny.  Once the bottom end is together the bottom case half can be put in place, I can roll it over and assemble the cylinders, head .....

Cheers, Tom

I like that tomN, I've been contemplating building a stand for when I tear into my mill this winter.   I might just appropriate some of your design
