Seven hundred ten
« on: August 11, 2006, 01:27:34 PM »
A blonde came into a garage and asked a mechanic for a seven-hundred-ten. They all looked at each other, and the mechanic asked, "What is a seven-hundred-ten?" She replied, "You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine. I lost it and need a new one. It had always been there."

The mechanic gave the woman a piece of paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like. She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710. He then took her over to another car which had the hood up and asked, "Is there a 710 on this car?" She pointed and said, "Of course, it's right there."

That's bad, but what about wheen men do the same stuff?  I had a new guy training with me when I worked on big trucks, and I told him to check the blinker fluid and change the air in the tires.  He came to me about 15 min. later and said he couldn't find the blinker fluid reservoir. :o  So I told him it was all a joke and to not worry about that or changing the air in the tires, but to make absolutely sure he greased the muffler bearings.....well, I went on break and that's when another guy came and told me that the new guy was asking everybody how much grease to put in the muffler bearings- ::)  Needless to say we all had a good laugh, and I got a little ass-chewing for terrorizing the green horn.

My uncle played this trick on one of his non-mechanical friends: When the friend was in the bathroom, Unc crawled under the guy's truck and jacked the rear axle up so the tires were just off the ground. When he tried to leave, the tires just spun. "What's wrong with my truck?" Unc crawled back under to investigate, banged on everything and let the jack down. He crawled out and said, "Try it now." Of course it worked, so Unc told him he had a bad "mud clutch" and that he'd have to get a new one. The next day the guy goes to the dealer to get a new "mud clutch." Unc wasn't there but one can imagine the fun the parts counter guys had with that one. The friend was not amused. But he got over it.........eventually.  ;D

Very Funny!  While in college working at a pizza place, I sent a new girl across town for a dough repair kit.  I called ahead and they sent her back with a 75 pound broken refrigerator compressor hastily marked medium and large with a label maker.  I felt bad later, but it was very funny at the time.

I saw the Ranger when I was stationed in Alameda. Parked next to the Vinson, she looked pretty tiny!  ;D I think she's slated to become another museum if I'm not mistaken. That's a lot better than being sold for scrap or sunk for an artificial reef.

Yeah, I was told to get "radar clips" and other things I can't remember. They never got me though. My roomie was told to go down to NARF (Naval Air Rework Facility (civilian-run hangar)) to get some "prop wash." He came back with a 5 gallon bucket of "CLEANER-PROPELLER-MILSPEC......." The guys in the shop were slack-jawed.  :D :D :D
