The addiction continues.   A 1970 CB175 followed me home earlier today.   I know, pics or it didn't happen, so here they are.


It had been last ridden in 2008.   The fuel was properly drained from the fuel tank and carbs.    After I checked it over, I put a good battery, fresh oil and fuel in, and it came to life with just a few cranks!

It runs and rides great!

It's got some minor issues.   The center stand is slightly bent, the speedo doesn't work (probably cable), and the brakes need adjusted.   That is about it.

Nice find Jas. Looks original and in good shape. Give it some TLC and your good to go ;) These little 175's were good bikes. I had a 71 SL175(street/trail) and I loved it.

My son is going to bring me a 1970 CD175(a little different version and not nearly as popular or well know as the CB model) that he just purchased the next time he comes to town.

$100 is a good deal on that CD175.   I'm a sucker for bikes with chrome tank sides and rubber knee pads.
I've got two CB160 that I'm working on as well as a CL160 and two CL175 (K0 - sloper).   The CL's don't have the chrome tank sides, but still have the knee pads, and I really like the shape of the fuel tank on them.

Those CD's are very rare in the US.    Are you going to restore it?

Still trying to get my 77 GL1000 that followed me home ::) in April ready for the road. Seems like things keep coming up that puts the project on hold.

As far has the little CD175(New model to me and didn't know anything about them)so when I get it I'll know more about it. But by the pics looks to be all there and in good original shape. Just like with my other Honda's I give them TLC and fix or replace what's needed (nothing more) and I go riding ;D

I can relate to projects being put on hold for other projects.   My 160's and 175 slopers are all in the back corner of the garage waiting their turn.  I've got several project bikes that I bought to clean up and get running for sale.   The proceeds of the sale of those bikes will then fund the restoration of the others.

I'm happy to have found a turn key rider in the meantime.     I also have a CB350 Four, CB400F, and CB550K1 waiting their turn as well.    Fortunately, last fall, I found a real nice read-to-ride CB400F, so the project one will also be sold when done.   I don't yet know if I'll keep the 350 Four or 550K1.   I'll have to see how much I like riding them.

It is a disease!

It's amazing what a difference it makes when the PO looks after the bike properly. 8)
If it's worth doing at all it's worth over-doing.

Yes, it is.    This CB175 that I just got came from the private collection of the owner of a local Honda shop.    He is liquidating his personal collection of vintage bikes.   I made an offer, and he accepted it.    I'm possibly going to buy a few more, so I will not disclose the name of the shop.     It was definitely stored properly.   The fuel tank and carbs were drained, which were key to it starting right up for me.

Most of the high end stuff is gone already.    They had a '79 (naked) and an '82 (full dressed for touring) CBX.   Both are gone already.    One went to Norway, the other to Texas.    The GB500 they had was sold to a guy who lived less than a mile from the shop.

Sweet addition! Love the smaller cc bikes. They are a blast to ride.

I can't wait to hear the ride report.   I definitely need to get one of my 160's done this winter.   I think I'll be using the CB175 a lot of local errands.    A friend has an extra luggage rack -- that'll make it much more useful for those sorties.   The chrome is shot on it, and another he has, so were going to get them powder-coated silver.   Eventually, when I find one with nice chrome, I'll upgrade.

Great find. Love that blue, worked with a guy that had one but his was hacked up a bit, not as nice as yours.
You try start up yet?

Gosh that is a great looking bike jas!!! I had a new 73 CL175 back in the day. They are nice runners and fun. Thanks for the pics.

Yes, it starts and rides great.   New battery, fresh gas and oil.   I also cleaned the light switch contacts, adjusted the brakes, and replaced the broken speedo cable.

Member K5owner here just restored one of those recently, same color etc. He mentioned he was really happy to find that plastic flair on the back fender for his as they can be hard to come by. Nice find.

The color as actually different.    I don't know why, but the color is off on my pictures.   The blue on mine is actually between blue and aqua.   It is in fact called "Candy Blue Green", and the K5 you mention is "Crystal Blue."   I like the Crystal Blue better, but you don't complain about color when you find one this nice for a good price.

And yes, I was pretty happy that the little mud guard is there, as they are tough to find in good shape.
