Safe to dip accelerator pump needle and rubber diagphram.

Curious if its safe to dip it in or example berry man chem dip. There is also a nice bend/curve in the "shaft" of the pump. Is this supposed to be like that or should I straighten it/ replace.

I will say that I am not too afraid to dip some of my rubber carb bits in the dunk available today, especially after it is used awhile. The 'old' stuff would melt aluminum and skin etc if left to long but the current crop is pretty friendly. A little dip in the poor quality stuff may even revive some tired rubber like a bowl gasket or something. Bring on the Flamethrowers Guys, Like Terry I am ready---cocktail in hand  ;D
A critical part like the diaphragm though or something not in gas hard I would be careful  ;)

I wouldn't chance it. I had a perfectly working diaphragm until I squirted aerosol carb cleaner through the pump feed holes with the diaphragm still installed. It stopped pumping about 10min later. When I took it out the rubber was all cracked and broken. I have some pics in another thread on here. I bought a replacement and, while it works, I can't get it to pump with as much force as the original diaphragm. Maybe a different chemical wouldn't have the same effect but I wouldn't use anything other than simple green on the pump in the future.

I'd be pretty surprised if that one works anyway...if it does, carb cleaner sure ain't gonna help it any
If it works good, it looks good...

NO, you would not be the first person on here to find out that carb dip can destroy the diaphragm.  Get a new one, they are $16.

Looks like you have a 650 but this is where got mine for my 750. You would want to confirm they are the same before ordering.

Hmm none of the part numbers match up, as I'm getting 16021-426-003 for the pump diaphragm. But thanks anyway, looks identical but have to look into it more.

I think I still have the old one somewhere. I can take some measurements tomorrow evening if you want to compare.
