Starting issues...
« on: August 17, 2013, 07:39:33 AM »
Ran out gas the other day on my 76 550k and now it's a pig to start up. Opening the gas tank seems to help w choke on. The guy who helped me on side of road getting gad had a 76 750 said maybe vacuum tube leak or petcock issues. Any ideas gents ?

Possibly dirt has been lying in the bottom of the tank and has now been sucked into your carbs. Drain the floatbowls and check for sediment. If you find some then you probably have blocked jets. As mentioned your petcock may also be blocked. Check the fuel flow when you have the drains out of the carbs.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Was thinking similarly with the dirt/sediment possibility.  Once started it runs great though. Im thinking its more likely  in petcock or fuel line.  Thanks

Can I drain the float bowls without removing the carbs ?

There is a large screw on the bottom of the bowl you can remove if you can break it loose.
