My brother-in-law collect, sells, and parts out bikes for a living. A few years ago my wife and I were at his place and I was nosing around...stumbled on a 70 CL350. I loved the way the pipes swept up and started talking to him about it. At that time he didn't want to let it go because he wanted to build it up. Every so often I'd pester him about selling it to me. We were down at his place again a few weeks ago and I once again brought it up now that the 750 is more or less done.
This time he relented for $200. He says he has the title for it and it looks mostly complete. The pipes look real good. The chrome is nice. He said the previous people thought the head or valves were bad.
My plan is to make it a "street tracker" style. I'm going to re-use most of the original stuff however I'm going to shave tabs, loose the center stand, chop the fenders, and loose the air boxes to see through the center of the bike. I would like to stay with the color scheme to a point. I'm thinking a darker gold with some light flake with gloss black accents. I haven't come up with the layout of the paint yet but I have awhile for that.
The original plan for the engine was to freshen it up. New seals, gaskets, valves, chains and replace anything worn. However getting into it that plan is changing since it looks like the previous owners tried to use spark plugs that were too big. The plug and piston appear to have tried to share the same area. So the game plan of keeping costs down might be chucked out the window. Especially after viewing the bore-tech website :-/
Going to shop around some and see if I can find some cheaper pistons. I'm likely going to have to go over-bore but I haven't inspected the sleeves yet. That will be tonight. I want to replace valves and guides with kibblewhite so that will chew a good portion of the budget.

Here are the pictures of the pistons...lovely aren't they? I think I'm going to add them to the wall of shame...
