Once again, need help. Gas tank venting Question
« on: August 23, 2013, 04:04:29 PM »
Okay, 78 cb750F. Runs very nicely. Idles smooth, good amount of power. etc. BUT, after a few mins of riding, usually 10 or 20 mins, it starts to bog down and then cut out. So i pull over when this happens, open the gas tank cap, and it fires up. And there is almost always a suction and breath from the tank when i unscrew the cap. SO there is obviously a venting problem going on.

Little background

Stock air box
stock pipe
clean idle jets and all
accel pump works

How can i make my tank vent properly?? Where is the venting port? help

The vent is in the gas cap itself.  On the bottom you should see a small notch or slit the must be open.  Inside the cap there is a hat to keep the splashing contained.  Somewhere on the top of the cap is a hole.  Air must pass between the hole on top and the slit/notch on the bottom.
Look closely at the cap and you should figure it out.

Just pop out the inside of the cap then you can clean in there. The inside is held in by four prongs. While off you can replace the rubber gasket. scroll down for pics.
