Wow. I feel really selfish now for not including poor Drummer in my planning. Let me see if I can clear a few more weeks of my schedule so I can drop him off at his door and let him ride the Pimp around the block a couple times. Anyone else out there we're missing?
So much to do, so little time.

You're setting the bar matt! Of course that tends to be a requirement when serving as LEAD-OFF RIDER!  8)

I'll be following along, waiting and watching for my opportunity to reach out (a.k.a. "get on your damn bike and ride"  :o ) to meet up with the relay as it swings anywhere remotely near my quadrant of the lower 48...

Each of the last three relays has been anywhere from 600 to 800 miles for me EACH TIME. Anyone that bothered to actually "read the posts" would know that others have covered up to THREE TIMES that amount of miles just to be able to say:

"I did that...

and it was great!"  8)
TAMTF...

Drummer, I can assure you there is absolutely NO prejudice against choppers where the relay is concerned! Check out this pic from 2011. ;D

+1. There was a choppa from Houston on the Texas portion of the 2011 Relay.

Drummer, I can assure you there is absolutely NO prejudice against choppers where the relay is concerned! Check out this pic from 2011. ;D

And I have a gripe too. I along with all the other commentators bent over backwards to try to include all aka EVERYONE in 2011. You wouldn't believe the time I put in to make this happen!!!!!

In order to make 20,000+ miles in 6 to 7 months the train could not stay parked long at all but it did on many occasions. We wanted as many riders included as possible. That my friend was the only parameter. Time vs miles and include as many as realistically possible. I do believe there was dialogue going at your other site too but the main impetus had to be here. It had to be #$%* or get off the pot. If someone couldn't arrange their schedule or ride out of town to meet the Relay then the Relay couldn't always come to you. If 'circumstances' wouldn't allow someone the ability to ride what the hell could we do other than continue?! The paradigm was Godzilla not individuals.

I just about whacked off when I found out the Denver Choopers guys with their amazing bikes were chomping at the bit to be included. As I've stated along the way MANY times everyone is/was invited. It's not what you ride, it's that you ride. I rode a Honda and a Harley but I RODE!! Last year I drove my car because I had broekn bones in my leg from my crash. Why didn't you ride?!?!

You know I kept my cool all/most of 2011 over petty BS. I ain't going to any longer. I thank my brothers for backing me up and covering my ass many times as they knew I was restraining myself from going off on #$%*s!

Almost forgot, Drummer you ARE welcome and I hope you can make it. I'd love to see your chop too. Can you post up a pic here?

Didn't wanna read all the posts on this. I have a gripe. In 2011 I tried to get involved in this and when it came down to it I was left off. Seems the chopper riders ( I being one ) don't hold a lot of water.
That being said, I'm in the St. Louis , MO. area ( north about 40 miles ). Altough I'm a member here it's the Honda Chopper site I hang out at. There was interest over there in 2011 and some thought they were treated the same ( ignored ). We ride 'em too boys.
Come on over and let us join the parade.
Gripe over
Thanks

I feel your pain, brother. Over the last 3 years, I actually had to ride my motorcycle to where GZ was to pick him up.  Then I actually had to ride my motorcycle again to meet someone to take the little lizard off my hands.  And I had to plan for it in advance and communicate with other people!  Darned inconvenient if you ask me. ;)

Gosh Greg, were you that guy that we rode though a blizzard over mountain passes at 17 degrees and had icecicles hanging off our bikes and balls to meet up with after you rode across a snowy desert just to help continue the journey? Damned if I didn't ride through another blizzard by myself across the desolated Great Plains the next week and BOTH journeys were on a borrowed bike that had issues?!

I did 2500 miles over a week and a half on that borrowed bike. Did you ride very many miles yourself?!

After consulting with my fellow Poobahs, we propose dividing the US into thirds: GZ will handle the middle, Lefty will handle the Eastern third, and PZ will take care of the west. This would be the third option on Lisa's poll.
Bump
Honestly folks, we only have 47 people signed up, and a few of those have dropped out due to schedule or routing constraints. Matt, line up a ride to Yosemite, or Mono Lake, or the Russian River; anywhere but the #$%*ing Mojave Desert... ;)

I vaguely remember something like that.  We need to do it again...

Sorry dude, It's happening. Me and DaSchwartz are handing off to Proto in Blythe, AZ. I'm pretty sure Proto has a handoff arranged in TX. I believe riders are lined up all the way to Florida. This seems to be the least planned, least hyped relay yet but I was talking to the Pimp just the other night and he was like "Dude, let's wing it!". Who am I to argue?

Proto has arranged handoff in TX to Justin in W. TX, I'll touch base with him to get it to the Austin area, hopefully by end of April.

Not sure where he goes from here, could be Hou or Dallas.  Hard to plan as it's a little looser this year, but I like winging it, not as much pressure.

Matt,  Lake Havasu city is ok with me.  Are you coming through Nevada first before heading south to Havasu, or are you coming from the south?  If you are going to hit NV before Havasu, why don't we meet at Bullhead City, AZ or Laughlin, NV instead?  Easier for me since I will be coming from straight east of Laughlin/Bullhead via I-40 from Flagstaff.

I have been in pm contact with Justin for the TX handoff.  Trying to set that up in the 4/2 to 4/9 time frame.  If that does not work for him, I will be tied up 4/12 thru 4/20, then I am free to do the hand-off at any time after that at the TX/NM border.

So Matt, when are you departing for Blythe?  The early timing (at least here in CA) of this rally is catching me off guard, I'm wondering if I'll be able to participate or not.  Thanks.

Now that we have multple GZ's there is no reason that one should not be able to make an appearance at Barber this year.

So Matt, when are you departing for Blythe?  The early timing (at least here in CA) of this rally is catching me off guard, I'm wondering if I'll be able to participate or not.  Thanks.
We are leaving this Friday, the 28th from Pacifica around 9 am and heading down the coast to Santa Barbara. Camping at El Capitan and heading out the following morning for Laughlin, AZ to hand-off to Proto.
So much to do, so little time.

Now that we have multple GZ's there is no reason that one should not be able to make an appearance at Barber this year.

So far we have only committed to one continuous relay based on the poll results:

most of the discussion/planning has also been focused mainly in that same thread so far.

Never know, there's always the possibility that another one could step in to pick up any slack!

We are leaving this Friday, the 28th ...

Thanks for the reply, way too short of notice for me to participate, and here I thought I was being proactive to start paying attention in March instead of May like last year, oh well.  Any chance the tour might end up circling back here later in the year?  I've read through most of the posts so far about the 2014 rally, but the what/where/when doesn't seem very set yet, perhaps its because its just getting going, or because the details are in PMs between members instead of posted online.  Have a safe ride.

Thanks Dave, sorry we're gonna miss ya this time. It looks like the last few posts in the "2014" thread are as definite as it gets so far. Ken and I are going to roll through the southern tip of NV so that will mean less chance of someone bringing him back our way later in the year. There's always Oregon.

True, but that doesn't mean that one of the GZ's can't find his way to Barber outside of the rally format.
