Anyone know the final route for GZ? I'm in SC and trying to plan ahead for his visit to my state. Last time I heard, he was in Texas.

Pecantree (aka Steve) will likely be shipping the baton to me soon. Life intervened and derailed relay efforts in West Texas. As soon as something happens I'll likely lay out a Southeast route (with dates) in our effort to move forward. Stay tuned, things are likely to ramp up quickly!

Thanks for the update. I'm looking to link up with someone from GA. at the state line (maybe Santee State Park and #95) and carry him through SC to the NC line for pickup.

Lookie who showed up here Saturday:

Open to suggestions for dates/routes. I can certainly run up the coast to the GA/SC line. Who's in? You know we have Manufacturer's Cup Drags in Petersburg, VA from June 20th thru the 22nd...

I can ride any weekend between now and June 21st. If we don't do a handoff before the 21st then I will likely carry it all the way to VA!  8)

Any locals want to show PZ some sights this weekend?  ???

Let's ride!  8)

Hello!  Would like to get in the rally somewhere, maybe when it comes back westward. Retired May 1st and have a flexible schedule.  If somebody jumps in from Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, or North Texas on the loop back, I could pickup and run north, south or east. Cant ride for long distances .... but could break it up. Would like some comment from downstream so I would have an idea where to head to.

I'm into meeting someone at the Ga./SC line on #95. There is a State Park right there called Santee State Park. A good place for pictures and the hand-off. I can take him through SC to NC. There is a place called "South of the Border" where I could hand off to "82nd Airborne" who can ride down to meet me. Just give us dates and we will link up.

Just looked on the map, and that Park is 100 miles into SC from Ga. I was trying to get a hold of "Rocker" from northern Ga. to meet me there. Maybe you will have better luck getting a hold of him then me. Being a new rider, I would like to stick to the interstate and ride right though to the NC border.

We definitely try to include as many as possible. A loose suggestion is to work up the Eastern states to New England, then cut back West while staying North all the way to the PNW, then cut back East through the Central states, hopefully finishing in Barber in October. Kind of like this:

Of course, this seems quite ambitious, especially since I believe we are already a little behind schedule. So as much as I would like to carry the baton to VA, that is three weeks away and I don't think PZ (PimpZilla) can sit that long... I would expect there to have to be a handoff every week in order to complete this. Time to step up!

One hundred miles in? Heck, that's halfway across South Carolina! Savannah is 300 miles for me (600 miles round trip), so another hundred miles is 400 miles one way (800 miles round trip). From there, it's closer for me to just continue on up to Raleigh, NC and visit family I have there. I was hoping to be able to make the handoff in a "Day Trip" without having to spring for a motel and do an overnighter. I can do it, but I certainly would not complain if someone wanted to "fill in" part of this to connect the dots....

Now I know others have ridden further, but with the population density along the East Coast we shouldn't have to. I could meet GA (or North Florida) riders this weekend if any GA/North FL riders want to pass the baton to SC or NC the following weekend?

Let me know what y'all think!

Where is GZ now?

The baton arrived in central Florida on Saturday via USPS after plans stalled in West Texas. Pecantree shipped the baton to me after reaching out to other potential recipients who either declined or failed to respond. I am now planning to try to get things moving North. PZ (PimpZilla) rode along with me to work today and we stopped by Orlando Harley so the little bugger could quench his thirst at their water tower:

Evidently breathing fire all day makes you thirsty. PZ insisted on stopping at the St Cloud water tower since the puny water tower at Orlando HD failed to do the job:

If there is a hang up I will be riding my bike to Minneapolis the week of July 4th. I would be able to ride it in that vicinity if needed.

Hey bender! I was getting ready to send out some PM's and reach out to Southeast riders. Sunday sounds good in Brunswick. I would expect that things need to move towards New England, then back West towards the PNW. If we can get things moving this weekend you would have more leeway for the next handoff. If the next handoff can't be arranged for this Sunday, then we would still be in good shape if it were to happen the following weekend. You would then have a week to show PZ some local sights! Doggie is in SC and sounds like the next in line.

Need to treat the baton like a hot potato. The laws of physics haven't changed since any of the previous relays, and the baton has to be moving 350 miles per week in order to pull this off.

I'll get some PM's sent out this evening.
TAMTF...

Hi Bender...I'm in Myrtle Beach, SC. Are you taking the handoff from Mad this weekend in Brunswick? How far north on #95 would you come up to meet me. I'd like to take PZ to Myrtle Beach and show him the beach and Ferris Wheel. You can email me at dht4343@aol.com and we can work something out.

Im pressed for time this week going on 12 day vacation the 14th.
Whats the halfway between us doggie? May have to get Chef involved in getting it north. Kids out of school and they aren't old enough to stay alone.
