PZ has hyperspace jumped to Maine! Since this was the only option to handoff to a Northern member available in Petersburg, VA on Sunday. Now the plan would either work back through New England, or into Canada headed for the PNW.
Time to ride, let's hear what you got!
No kidding, I feel skipped
Handoff had been arranged for a more local connection. That connection was not made.
I rode 750 miles to make the connection from my end... so when the other half of the connection fell through we were forced to improvise.
I did my two legs:
Leg 1: St Cloud, FL to Brunswick, GA on June 8th and handoff to bender01. 250 Zilla' miles, 500 total miles round trip
Leg 2: St Cloud, FL to Benson, NC to meet Airborne 82nd to recollect PZ on June 20th. Carried it to Raleigh, NC and then on to Petersburg, VA on June 21st. Another 200 Zilla' miles, 1500 miles (*effectively) round trip.
Soooo.... 450 Zilla' miles, and 2000 (*again "effectively") total miles.
*The "effective" miles are based on my turning around in Parkersburg, VA and going home. That wasn't good enough, so I continued on up to northwestern Ohio to see family via US Highway 250 through Western VA/Eastern WV. My first hour and a half along this route was done
after dark on Saturday night. I'm willing to bet this Highway 250 is every bit as "interesting" as the Tail of the Dragon. I'll find out Friday, since I plan to get lost in the mountains this Friday:
>Deals Gap
>Cherohala Skyway
>Six Gaps
Finally get to put some wear on the sidewalls! (Florida is kinda flat you know...)
I will have covered about 2500 miles this trip (ten days) on my K8 by the time I get home. Add to that the 500 miles back on June 8th to meet bender01 in Brunswick, and I will have ridden 3000 miles in less than three weeks.
