Sean,

Did you ride back by coming around Chicago?

No 500's or 550's in that picture. That is sad.

G-Z is now on the CBR and will be heading out to Wendover, Utah, later this week.

Are there any set plans for his next move from Wendover?  As it happens, I'll be on a pre-qualification ride for upcoming IBA events this coming Saturday August 23rd, which takes me to Wells, NV (about 60 miles west of Wendover) before turning back home to Napa, CA.  I'll be in Wells, NV for about an hour beginning at 11:30am and could give GZ a lift west along I-80 to another member if needed, as long as he doesn't mind riding on a BMW R1100RSL.  Otherwise I'll keep my ear to the ground for an upcoming opportunity a bit closer to home in the coming weeks/months.

Hi Dave,
Ofreen is traveling down from the Boise, ID area to pick him up. I was hoping to ride down to Bonneville to see the lizard and meet the crew this weekend but it's not looking good for me now.  I wasn't planning to carry PZ so if I don't show it does change anything.

Sorry to hear you might not make it, Josh.  I'll post on the other thread and see what we can figure out with Old Scrambler.  Dave, if I pick it up, we have to figure out what comes next.

I'll shotgun this out since bits and pieces of the relay "planning" are in so many places -

Josh and Greg................Jerry plans to arrive on Sunday PM with the original banner............It looks good for Pimp-Lizard to have a ride-around in Michigan and then connect to Wisconsin through Indiana and Illinois. We begin our trip to the salt-flats on the 20th and still plan to arrive late Friday or early Saturday, the 22nd-23rd. Let Jerry know your plans for a GRAND HAND-OFF at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Old Scrambler, is this ETA still good?  I am restricted to the weekend at this point.  Too much going on at work to weasel out of there.  I can make the 22nd through the 24th work, though Friday or Saturday would be best, so let me know.  Then once I have it, what's next?  Dave Voss and Mooshie up for a ride to central Oregon?  Tlbranth rides down from the Puget Sound area to meet up somewhere in between?  Wags, any ideas about what you'd like to do?

Saturday is set-up and tech day on the salt.  If you get to the "end of the road" entrance to the salt-flats before 9-AM, look for my white Ford van (1998 with topper & WI license) or call my cell, 1-920-698-0525) and you can park your bike and ride in with us.  If later in the day, you can call and someone will get to you with the entrance pass.....otherwise $40/day.  If late in the day, we should be at the Best Western around 6-PM..........will be looking for you. Also, Zak, Grasscutter, will be arriving by car sometime Saturday afternoon and has a room at same hotel.

We have a hotel room (private or shared) or you can use my van-bed and borrow a shower in our room. I have a pass for you to get on the salt-flats for Sunday AM............racing starts about 10-AM.  You can stay all day or head-out when you want.

The pimposaurus is in SW Idaho. I'll post some pix when I get near a real computer, but in the meantime lets figure out what's next. Someone from the great Pacific Northwet want to meet me somewhere?  Wags, I'll be in touch when someone chimes in about wanting to ride.

I'll get this posted and hopefully inspire someone to take a ride so we can move this relay along.  I left the house Saturday afternoon and headed to Wendover, UT to meet up with Old Scrambler and crew.  They were participating in in the Bonneville motorcycle speed trials and kindly ferried me to and from the pit area.  Thanks to Dennis, Dave, Zack and his dad for taking the time out of their busy schedule.  Here's a few photos -

The rider's meeting -

Tech inspection -

The looong wait in the fuel line -

Dennis' beautiful CB750 racer -

Passed the tech inspection hurdle -

Looking up toward tech inspection and the impound from the fuel truck -

The beginning of the race course way in the distance -

Looking back toward Wendover -

A couple of Harley racers -

Looking at 'Lake Bonneville' from the end of the road.  The pit area is visible in the distance.  I don't know how the leggy miss got in the shot -

The old faithful 750 waiting patiently at the end of the road -

Because of commitments at work early Monday, I had to leave about 2PM.  Here's few pics taken on the ride back -

Out of Wendover, I-80 westbound -

Near Glenns Ferry, ID, looking down on the Snake River -

Abandoned school at Hammet, ID.  The dog wasn't sure of my intentions while taking pictures, but was pretty sure I shouldn't be trusted -

King Hill, ID -

A couple of shots on old US30 out of Mountain Home, ID as the sun was going down.  The photos don't do the light justice.   -

It was a good ride, even though the roads were pretty much straight stuff (except old US30.)  The high point was meeting Dennis and his crew and observing the doings at the salt flats.

So for right now, Pimpzilla is perched on the handlebar riding with me back and forth to work.  He is going to get tired of that real fast.  Who's next?  What would you like to do?  I'm flexible as to what direction to head, but am confined to riding on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the next few weeks.
