Anybody driven a Suzuki TU250X ?
« on: May 08, 2015, 09:12:42 AM »
I really like the looks of this little 250cc thumper and it's cheap as dirt.

I currently have a 2007 Vespa GT200 that I ride to the train station every day, but I could probably sell it for close to what this cool little bike costs. I'd assume that the Suzuki is every bit as reliable as the Vespa and has actual gears.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I rode one for my motorcycle safety course, don't have any real road experience, but it was a fun little thing to throw around the parking lot course...

Yep. The wife and I were trapped in Waikiki last christmas holiday with the inlaws. No rental car to fit 14 people so nobody rented one. On the 5 th day I told my wife I need to get out of here or I am going to explode!!! There was a rental shop a half a block away and they had one. We rented it for the day and had rode around the entire island of Oahu. Two up it was fine. The speed limits on the island are only 50MPH max. It topped that easily. Again we're talking two up riding. I thought it would be a fun little bike for inner city riding too. Depending on what you're looking for I would rather have this than a scooter of the same CCs.

Like arogers88 I rode one for my safety course. Definitely enjoyed it. I'm a taller guy (6' 3") and it was comfortable.

Hi,
i own a TU250x, the older version with carb, from 1998, with some small custom work and i am very happy with it.
Good consumption (about 3l/100km), light wheight, easy to maintain, good handling, very reliable...all you need for a city bike or commuter.
I got 40.000 km on my odometer.
As for a long  trip bike i dont think is made for this.
Top speed is about 110-120km/h.

This is a US forum about the tu250: http://tu250riders.com/
You can find all you need there!

Wow thanks for all the help. Seems like it gets pretty positive reviews as a in-town commuter. I think the vespa is a great gizmo, but I'm not really culturally a scooter guy (not sure whether you even can be culturally a scooter with a modern twist-and-go!). Search begins (or maybe next year once I figure out how much this new roof on my house is going to cost).

Looking for more on this Suzuki, I stumbled on this Yamaha.  I'm really digging this new Yamaha!  2015, and it's kickstart only!  (I always wondered why they don't put kickers on bikes anymore.)  I do like the Suzuki's seat more though.  Anyway, it's nice to see the retro styling coming back in style!

I saw a guy riding the Suzi Tu250 this morning on the highway into town.

I've seen the Yami before but the price tag is pretty steep for what you get. $6000? For another thousand more I can buy a Moto Guzzi V7 Stone.

I always loved the original SR400s but always thought they would have looked better with spokes. The new ones look more 70's than the old ones.

Here's a lively comparison of the TU and the SR:

I had a suzuki GT250....it was ok one up, but with a passanger it was a dog.
Comfortable on long trips though. :D

I would never own a scotter, afraid of them smal tires getting caught in potholes etc etc.
