#2 plug isn't firing properly if at all
« on: August 23, 2013, 03:42:04 PM »
What's been done:
Replaced whole points plate with good tec unit, static timed, and then put the timing light to it and it's dead on as far as I can tell. Fresh plugs, properly gapped. Tested the coil it's good and checked plug wires for continuity, good across all four there too. But, #2 isn't firing with the rest. The other 3 will strobe the timing light consistently, but #2 intermittently fires when it feels like it. I am waiting for a fresh set of plug caps, anything else I can check while I wait?

You can try swapping the cap with a good cylinder

Or swapping the spark plug with one from a firing cylinder.

Or, examining the spark lead for cracks and allowing an electrical path to frame/motor.

Yep, if #3 is consistently sparking, it'll be either the plug, the cap, or the lead. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
