You are right. The shock bushings should face up.
Good call on this. I would have obviously found this when installing my new Hagon shocks which are on the way.

Swapped it around, and torqued it a little more this time to 80 ft-lbs.
Glad this was over. If I had a hydraulic press to remove the stock bushings, I would be more than willing to do this for members here. Because I don't, it's too much manual ass-kicking labor.
