I totally believe it since I bought a 7k mile '77 550F from the grandson of the second owner for $750 in 2011. It was complete and original right down to the tire and tubes that came on it from Japan (when I changed the tires the tubes had 1977 printed on them).

Frankly, considering the Lesters, whcih are worth quite  alot on their own, paying $2,000 for that bike is outright left. Congratulations on an incredible deal.

Beauty.  Yep, that's the kind that does not get a restoration.  Doesn't need it and might actually lower the value.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

$2K??! :o
The exhaust and the Lesters alone are almost worth that!

Score!  :)

Well, after a slight scare today, she's officially mine!

The P.O. was SWAMPED with replies after I left. Unbeknownst to me, he also had it listed on eBay. He told me "Wow, maybe I should have asked more for it. Wish I had kept a bunch of these old bikes!".
When he went to remove the ads, someone in Michigan had hit the "buy it now" button and sent him a deposit....uh-oh. Note to self: ALWAYS LEAVE A DEPOSIT.
I was stuck at work for 12 hours, but after a few tense emails, he withdrew the auction, refunded the guys money and honored our handshake deal. He found the title today and was waiting in my driveway when I got home from work.

I got to take her for a spin around the neighborhood and she'll definitely need a carb clean and a good tune up. A couple of the bowls are dripping out of the overflow vents and the gas is that funny green color of stale gas/bad ethanol.
The tires, while like new, are also old and will need replacing to be safe.

A couple of things I learned today:
-The bike is 100% original other than the Lesters/tires, 400F bars and the grips.
-The seat IS brown. It's just darkened with age. You can really tell under different light and when you look at the underside.
 -The gauges are original.
-The bolts on the triple tree clamp are original.

There is a ton of cool parts in the spare boxes. Some NOS Honda in unopened wrappers. Some are take offs from when his father owned the Honda dealership. I'll have to inventory it all and snap some pics.

Oh, and factory tool kit under the seat, as well as the owners manual in a never opened zip-lock baggie.

How much was his Buy It Now?

I don't know....never saw the eBay ad. He was asking $2200 on CL. I quickly offered $2,000, knowing the Lesters, the Shoei, the Kerker, the spare parts and the HISTORY of the bike made it a deal at that price.

Oh...and the bike wasn't even titled until 2000! And he's only put 225 miles on it since then. Before that, they always used the dealer tag and the MSO.

More NOS stuff. I need to look up the part #'s on a couple of these things. They're unopened and I have no idea what they are.

There's also an overflowing box of parts that were removed from bikes at the dealership and saved. A complete wiring harness, full set of controls, dash/gauges, master cylinder, about half of an airbox assembly, a couple of ignition switches with keys and matching seat locks, etc., etc.

Well, I know one thing.......
You can trust the seller, he is a man of his word !

Did you ask him the next questions..
. What else do you have ?
. Do you have any -300- parts ?

Wow nice find scott! I hope mine looks like that when I'm done. I put 400F bars on mine it gives it a more twitchy fast reaction feeling compared to the 550 bars.

Would you want to sell any of the extra parts? I see a nice looking electrical panel in the box :)
