Float bowl overflow lines
« on: August 27, 2013, 05:18:02 PM »
Where are you guys finding the correct size/length overflow lines for the float bowls? All the vacuum line at the auto parts store is too big O.D., ugly, etc.

3/32 windshield line tubing. After all you "shouldn't" have anything going thru it. Occasional overflow is negligient, it won't swell. I use it for the float bowls and for the vents up top

It is nice and thin and flexible, plain not gaudy

and its cheap, if it hardens after a year or two.

It does swell, even if only from the gas vapors.  Takes longer than if immersed.  But, vacuum hose will still deteriorate.

The auto parts store counter man convinced me to give it a try, so a bought a couple feet of vacuum hose.  It was cheap for me and profitable for him.
This was 7/32" ID off the spool.  I stuck an inch of it in a jar with a little pump gas last year.  The ID is about 3/8" or 1/2" now.

BikeBandit has the real deal:   426032-9 BULK HOSE (3.5X3000).  $10.25 for more than enough hose to do the overflow and vents.

That should be about 10 ft?

Seems like BikeBandit would be the best choice, after googling 3.5mm fuel hose. Most the stuff available is braided and really expensive, since VW/Mercedes/Volvo seems to use it.

someone will have to measure an original for you, but you'd be OK with running them rearward over the case and down between the case and swingarm.  I cut them longer than needed and then zip tie and cut them all the same length once installed...
