Hi guys,
Been lurking on here for awhile now, and can't tell you how much time and energy all your expertise has saved me. Now it's time to participate and ask some detailed questions while hopefully helping out some other members. I've worked on newer bikes in the past but this is my first attempt at a full restoration/build of an old motorcycle. So yes, call me a newb. I picked up a 1978 CB550K at the beginning of August, and now I'm trying to get it in running order before putting in some personal touches. The bike only has 12k miles on it, but it's clearly sat for a long time. The bike did start with some effort, but leaking gas and braking problems make it un-ridable at this point. Looking forward to getting this baby back in shape!
Initial project list includes:
-Carb rebuild (Keihin PD46C) - I'm 90% done
-Front brake caliper cleanout/rebuild
-Tank dent/rust removal
-New seat
