1978 CB750 Four F Barn find

Yesterday I was dropping my son off when I saw a guy trying to unload a bike off his trailer.  When I went over to help him I saw it was a 78 CB750 super sport.  He was in the process of moving it from a barn to a storage shed on the property.

I did not get to spend much time with him or the bike but here is what I know:

motor turns over.  Carbs are off and cleaned.  Master cylinder has been rebuilt.  Front fender is dented.  Pain on bike is white with no other colors or graphics.  Not sure if that is original.  Has dual front disc brakes.  Has mag wheels. It has NO title. It has a 4/1 exhaust and that is all I was able to ascertain.

I think I can buy it for $500.  What do you guys think?

Good bike.  Valve guides are the weak link.

I say you were in the right place at the right time! Price seems good, but pics would help too.

If they are Lester wheels, they are worth nearly that much. 

Can you get a title in MA?

It's very difficult to do in MA without a previous title, registration, etc. Nevertheless it can be "filtered"  ::) through NH if you know someone. From there it is pretty simple to swap everything into MA. That's how my '75 F became roadworthy, although I am still in the process of MA paperwork.

If the tank and seat are good that's a big plus.The Mags and 4into1 are more than likely stock SS parts.Sounds like a deal to me.

Very true to all of the above. I assume the wheels are the stock 5(?) star mags. The tank and seat, in good condition, is a huge plus. I just picked up a F tank and found it full of rust. After de-rusting there are a good many pinholes that I am working over and sealing with Caswell. So, as I digress, if the tin is solid and looking good from inside it seems like a pretty good deal based on all else you've mentioned.

I'm always willing to go check it out and ride those Western MA roads :)
