Oil change on a CB750 K2
« on: September 01, 2013, 07:04:46 PM »
So I have 4 problems (see sig) that I'm working on with this bike and haven't had much luck with any so far. Front brake won't break loose, new fuel hoses won't get here until the 11th, and don't have a center stand so can't take off the rear wheel to try and fix the grinding issue. I still have tomorrow before going back to work, and would like to at least have a small win with this thing. Bought it last Sunday and the PO told me he never changed the oil on it, and the title was from a while ago, granted he didn't rid it much either. I'd really like to get it running soon, and since I have the time to do something tomorrow, I hope to at least get the oil changed out. Looking at the bike, the braided hose that connects the oil tank and the engine seems soaked with oil, is this an off the shelf replaceable or do I have to part hunt for it? I'd like to change it if I can, but I'll leave it on and just change the oil otherwise. Also, what is the best oil to use for motorcycles (first bike so don't know)? Since its an older bike, will I need some special zinc oil or additives? How many quarts will I need? Anything else I need to consider? Couldn't find any vids or pix, just a text walkthrough which is detailed on this site but I don't know what is what and where to that detail yet.....

I would be more concerned with the rear wheel issue and the front brake than a simple oil change, if I were you. ;) Seriously, take things one issue at a time. Rome wasn't built in a day...
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

:) I know, I need to recall I how I used to be patient on the TRD scene a few years ago. I was really hoping for at least a 100yrd ride after taking off the front brake this weekend. One of the guys here is looking into selling me a center stand, as soon as I have that installed, hopefully I can take the wheel apart for you guys to see and give me further directions. I've started searching for a rear wheel anyway, just in case the one that is on there is useless. Another relief was that FFJ on these forums is offering removal and replacement of the bleeder valve for $18 including return shipping which is probably the best thing for me to do. Just have to keep at it till the damn line lets go off the caliper...

As far as oil, search the forum and read on it, there are tons of discussions on oil.
