Road Ready CB550K0
« on: September 08, 2013, 03:25:48 PM »
I finally got our little barn find to a presentable state.  So far we've done the following:

Fork overhauled, new seals and gaiters
New intake manifolds
New air cleaner boots
New Motad 4 into 1 exhaust
Carbs cleaned and rebuilt for the 2nd time
Extensive tank cleaning and brownie removal (still needs more)
New clutch plates awaiting install, cover will be polished during
New shift, kick, grips and footrest rubbers (all NOS)
NOS mirrors and fuel filler
New Avon RoadRider tires
Several pounds of various refinishing products from 3M, Mothers and Meguier's

Aside from the aforementioned parts what you see below is as she left the factory 40 years ago.  I'm pretty darn impressed that a machine this age could hold up this well, even under the best of storage conditions.  The odometer know reads a little over 5300.  Keeping that down is going to be a tremendous task...

It looks great!  Don't be afraid to put LOTS of miles on it, that's what it's made for!

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Stunning good looking bike. If it were mine, to make it perfect, I would change the handlebars for the ones that were on other models outside US (parts number 53100-390-620). Bike certainly deserves it. I've seen DSS sells a replica for less than $ 55,-.
You'll be rewarded with a much better riding position and will feel more in control.
