What I find interesting is that I have a set of Yoshimura prepared CR31's and all of them have a Yoshimura decal on them, this bike has the same carbs but they should have the decal and don't. Here's a pic of mine, you can see the Yoshi decals, there's one on each carb..
I'm just doubting some of the back story, the bike itself is very nice... ;)

What is hidden under the electric starter cover? I see six screws & nuts there. (Pic 478).

could that be were they wire up the lights?
it looks like insulator board and I don't see a battery
tie into the mag to generate the power???????

In another picture from the alternator side there are wires that look like it still has an alt, possibly also a starter. ???

Certainly far less than a real CR, or even a real 'kit' bike would be my guess.

Evidently the builder of this "race" bike was more concerned with the front fork air pressure than being able to see the tachometer? ::)

would make a world of difference if the bike was actually raced and finished the bold'or.  real french works endurance racers with documented race history are traded at nice value in europe, but far from priceless, more like 20K-30K.

on the other hand 736's bike has this "like new" thing about it and just building one now with tickler CRs, etc. you'd be getting close to those figures,

I've always had mixed feelings about this bike. Cool story...you betcha, but part of me wants to see this bike out there competing. Sitting hidden gathering dust just somehow doesn't resonate with me. I quess if I had the money to have it sit in my livingroom unmolested I'd feel differently.

I know it's a stationary display and they can be "adjusted" but those pipes would touch down everywhere!  :)

IMHO I dont think the bike is build to race. I enjoy looking at it, but no racebike. Certainly not a Endurance bike that would have survived Le Mans the way it is shown. Do like the seat and tank, and the wheels are fancy too.

I want it but not to race or sit in my living room [wife wouldn't have that anyway].

pretty sure I read that 736cc added those pipes after he got it

There's a couple of things about that bike that don't add up for me.  Lots of talk about the nice safety wire, but how come the oil lines are only done at the engine & cooler but not the tank ???  Why the air lines & not the fork drain plugs?  And if it was built in 75 the billet/anodized brake parts seem to be from the wrong era.  Nice story, but where's the written provenance, like an invoice from Yosh ect.  Not saying it's not a very nice bike, and I would certainly like it in my garage, but......
