When I removed an oil cooler from my Dodge Van because of rotting lines and no longer pulling a big trailer I made a loop from port to port until I had my mechanic remove that base during it next oil change and eliminated it and converted it back to just a stock set-up.
I think KJ760 may be on to something. I asked him in an earlier post to look for good circulation,do that as its an easy test.
