Laser accupuncture smoking cessation ?
« on: September 04, 2013, 09:22:45 AM »
Hmmm.....

Had  atrusted buddy tell me about cold laser accupuncture for smoking cessation.   His sister who has smoked for over 25 years did it as well as his son and after 6 weeks it is still working.

Anyone have any experience with it ?    I've seen traditional accupuncture work on a good friend's back so I'm somewhat a believer.

And since, I'm adicted to these old CB750s, I've certainly taken bigger gambles...

Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

You've got my attention on this. I've tried hypnosis which didn't work at all, tried Chantix which did actually work at first but it's side affects literally drove me nuts. You've got me looking this acupuncture thing up now.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger and give it a shot.  It's for my wife - she has smoked for 8 years now and I've always hated it.

Talked to the place yesterday afternoon.   Works like traditional accupuncture.   3 treatments  - 3 different sessions.
They said that most do not need the third session.

I couldn't really find too much info about it that seems credible.   I am still a believer in hypnosis, however, I believe that hypnosis is completely
dependent on both the person getting hypnotized and the hypnotist.   I've seen some crazy things there.

If I did not know the 25 year smoker personally, I would not tend to believe that it works enough to try it.   I'm getting the same person to do the
accupuncture.

I'll report back - one way or the other.

I looked into it as well and didn't really find any credible info either. As far as hypnosis goes I've tried it twice each with a different hypnotist and it didn't work at all. At the same token I worked with some guys who all smoked at one time, they all went to the same hypnotist and none has ever had a cigarette since in fact I was surprised when I found out they actually did previously smoke. I tried to get the same hypnotist but he had already retired by then. :'(

I know of people who've tried Chantix and it worked for them but it didn't work for me. It actually helped but the side effects were too much for me to handle. They warn about bizarre dreams when using Chantix and yep I had them but the bizarreness of the dreams wasn't the problem. The problem I had was that I'd have one dream after another after another after another and wake up mentally exhausted from all the dreaming. After a week of lousy sleep I was turning into a basket case.

I successfully quit in March using Nicorette. It was my 6th try. This time I really had my mind made up and resolved to stick with it. The gum helped with the cravings but at the end of the day, it was my choice and will power to stay away. Smoked for close to 20 years at 1 to 2 packs a day. There are a lot of phone support groups too. You can do it!
