« on: September 04, 2013, 08:20:49 PM »
So its late in the season but i managed to get my bike to pass the local safety inspection, needed rear brakes and the frame finished off.  the bike is a 77 550k stretched approx 8 inches and welded up rigid, has early 80s yamaha wheels and a tank off of a newer suzuki. pics to come

So the previous owner was the one to chop the bike and do most of the mods and it was overall pretty well done he had to work with what he had and he was up front about that when i went to look at it. this how it looked when i bought it.

Since then I reinforced the frame where the seat meets the tank, cleaned up the open tube ends, lowered the tank about 2 inches, added a chain guard, remounted the battery and kinda cleaned up the wiring alittle, made a new gas cap and replaced the exaust. I still wanna make some side panels to cover everything up and Id like to do a complete tear down and rebuild of the bike over the winter but I have a couple other projects on the go that i need to spend time on including in there are a couple of cx500s I picked up cheap. This is how it looks now, I still want to make a dual looking exhaust of the rest of the season until I can find a 2 into 1 set up for a true dual set up, I feel like i have to do something to get some noise out of this thing I was drowned out by a modded honda ruckus the other day :-[, the sound the exhaust makes now kinda reminds me of the cadbury bunny. Id also like to get a new rear fender and lights I just dont like the look of whats there now but itll do for this season.  Ill post more before and after pics of the frame clean up soon. Ignore the mess in the back ground, sadly it usually looks like that.
