East Bay, California checking in here.
« on: September 12, 2013, 10:00:07 AM »
Hi Guys,

Just picked up this 1971 CB750K1, didn't take much to get it running.

I owned a CB700SC in a past life, I have always loved the style of the older CBs, and finally had a chance to pick one up.

I plan to cafe this one out a little, but I'm in no hurry. Mostly just want to enjoy riding it.

Hey Greggo, not sure what the Lester's reference is, I got it from a guy named Dave that had it since '74.

Can you refer me to any good mechanics for these bikes in the East Bay?

Cheers!
Keith

Your wheels appear to be Lester mag rims like I have on my 500/4.  Looks like Dave put a nice bike together!  I do all my work myself now, and with the help from this forum, you can too ;)

What needs immediate attention?  If you're up for it, start a build thread in the project shop section, and you can get all the help you need.  I'll be glad to help out if I'm able as well, and I'm not far away.

Thanks Greggo, my immediate need is just for a tune-up and carb sync...

WrenchMonkey, thank for the welcome! I look forward to seeing what everyone is doing to their bikes!

Welcome from Texas, 71CB.  Looks like a sweet bike, I'd be in no hurry to cafe that out. Maybe just some lower "super bars"?

A Honda recommended 3000 mile tune up is prolly a good idea.

Welcome Keith, cafe ? thats a nice bike someone has put a lot of effort into , like Stevo said, throw some superbike bars on it and ride as is,  cafe's are so cliche.... Nice set of Lesters too, you will soon learn, everyone wants a good set, you have the harder to find 18 inch rear as well, lots of 16's, not as many 18's...... ;D ;)

Thanks everyone, I will rethink making to many "café" changes! I will take a picture of the other side, and get it up on here over the weekend. Loving the site so far!!

"east" bay would be the correct spelling of that word. I'm going to have to get familiar with that spell check function.  :P
