Help with oil pressure issue (CB650)
« on: September 07, 2013, 07:23:41 AM »
I just changed the oil and filter and the o-ring seals numbered 13, 15, and the one under the cover that's held in by the 3 phillips screws that isn't shown in the image.  The seals numbered 12 were changed within the last 2000 miles.  Starting about 5 miles into a ride now, the oil pressure light will start to come on at stops; right at idle speed.  I didn't ride it as far today but when I rode it to work a few days ago it was coming on at increasing speed.  First right at idle, a little later about 1200, and then a little higher than that.  Rev the engine up and it goes away.  When I got back from work with it, I expected to see a big leak under the sprocket cover.  Nope, nothing.  The seal #15 was a close size but not the original (discontinued) seal from Honda.  I did find a proper 46x3 seal and I have them on the way.  Other than the obvious of taking my oil pump back apart and looking at it, does anyone have any ideas?

*edit*  Also, if you let the bike sit a few hours, the light will go back off.  Then, it goes back to the cycle.
