Seat lock cylinder replacement
« on: September 06, 2013, 07:10:09 AM »
This is what I have, I would like to replace the cylinder with one I have a key for.  Before I start digging into it, anybody done it?  Any tricks I need to know?

Thanks

This is exactly the part that's missing on mine. If you end up replacing it for sure, would you mind selling me this old one? I found a seat, just need this to complete that part of the bike. Mine's a 1972/k2.

I have two bikes now that I have removed the little brass pins from the tumblers on the seat locks. Put the rest back together, and now they work like the tank lid (the later K7/K8 and F models with the flap) in that any key (or flat screwdriver) will work. Looks like a lock anyway...

exactly what I did too after breaking the original one but if you must,  a locksmith can make it work with your key. Cheaper to pull the pins and use the side of the key.

Looks like three pin lock, right? Do you remember? Seems simple enough to get lucky with the combination.
