Shorter Clutch Cable for new handlebars
« on: September 01, 2013, 03:06:39 PM »
I want to put a shorter set of bars I got on my 77 750K. Really don't like the tall ones. All cables are good except the clutch.
This on is going to be too long. Anyone know where I can get a shorter one.

Get someone to help first get on the bike and put your arms where it feels good to you then get your helper measure from your hands then straight down even with your clamps this will be your new rise. look for that rise number. Also the F model is about 2" lower than the K for the 77-78 750 You might want to change the pull back also.

Tip: check in the Parts Lists if OEM shorter cables are available. For the 500/550 Honda has them for the lower bars as used for models outside the US. These shorter cables have a partsnumber that ends with -620 or -621.

If you have access to a cable rack at a salvage yard... you can hold yours up against others to compare the length and to be sure the adjusters will work.

CB/CL350/450/500/550 will all work. Just need to find your length.

Or MotionPro per Bill.

Come to think of it I think I have one from MP I couldn't use cause I gave them the wrong length. I'll check. It is shorter than stock. Clearcoated, stainless braid sheath. May be too much $$ for your purposes.

RT,
routed clutch cable like you showed, thats the ticket. What did you do with the brake line from master cylinder to junction under steering tree.
The original is pretty long for the clubman bars. Thanks for your help.
