How many vintage cb750 drag bikes are there ?
How many are sandcast?.. I bet less than a handful.. Keep it intact.

Part stuff out thats too far gone, or simply has no higher value if restored.. Ie not economically viable..

I'd look for an appropriate number frame and build a sandy.
I agree. I really think in this case, the bike should be parted out, with the rolling frame, Webers, mag, and motor sold separately.

You think he could get enough from the other bits to put that motor in a sandy guys? maybe a bit of time and work might well be worth the effort in this case.

There is money in the parts for sure.
Is the crank cut?

It looks to me like it may be the earliest full on cb750dragbike in existence.. And you guys are talking parting out !!!

Just because there is no race or ownership history ....yet...does not mean it wont show up..

It very well could show up.
And the price paid a year or so reflected all of that thinking.
At 3 or 4 times that now it's putting people off.
Personally I don't see the value increase.
Yes it is more together now and this seller can take a much better picture and market the bike better.

That pile of parts was this bike. I reassembled it recently. Whats there is what i have. There are some missing pieces still.

This engine was not marked at RC Engineering...our stamp, although it could be easily copied was at least a one piece stamp...we did not stamp each letter as seen on this case. Pics to my Dad and this is not RC stamping...period...could be a lot of things but not a complete, built at RC motor.

Good luck however...looks cool

So what is inside it?  Could have been full of RC Parts. If head was done by RC it is usually stamped.

There you have it. I stand corrected, and humbled.
And for the record, the auction last year was me selling. It didn't meet my reserve price.

Thanks for taking the time Russ, I think it's still some nice bits and probably worth more than 5 but like people are saying your going to need to get into all the bits and find some history.

Regarding the current E-bay auction:

This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.

I have to say...it is fine looking example of that era RC Eng racer.

I own a 70 Chevelle SS396 that wins every show it enters....and no one cares the engine was replaced...of course then I'd be scared to drive it...worth about 35K...numbers and paper would be 60+.

Finished up, that is some fine garage jewelry....and at the very least a fine "tribute" vehicle to what was being built at RC. We had some very fast customers that built their own rides , right around the corner with all RC parts..a little history would go a long way.

Any names come up ...run them by me...maybe we can connect the dots.

RCjr.

It's still an awesome bike, I'd be proud to own it and I'd probably leave it as is. buuut, if the right parts came along I'd at least consider swapping things around to make two bikes. I might have to put a beater motor in it and make a pass or two.  My old 40 chevy coupe was spotted by a former owner, he gave me the names of who he got it from and sold it to twice. That filled some gaps. You never know.

Could be that the motor is filled with RC parts, just not assembled at RC.
I still wish it wasn't on the other side of the county

Thanks,

Anything else would be sacrilege. 4 speed, stock except mild cam, intake headers and HEI....driven every Friday and some very quick laps though the early morning woods come Saturday.

Well Russ Sr certainly had a Ralph Muldoon framed dragbike.  The Assassin.  His very first cb750 powered custom framed dragbike I believe.

The bike is begging to have a supercharger/Weber combo on Nitro and a vintage Yamaha race fairing installed and head down the path of a first class Assassin tribute bike!
