I have to let someone know (all of my friends are at work, I am currently unemployed). I finally fixed all the running issues with my 76 cb 550. Last night while a friend of mine was working on putting a new clutch in his camry, I pulled my carbs off, and made the needed adjustments. I was informed that there was a good chance that when the previous owner put the drag pipes on he most likley did not get any proper jetting. Well fortunatly he did get tthe needed kit, and installed it. All I did was raise the needles a notch (all the way to the bottom), clean all the jets out (they were pretty nasty), and give all the carbs a good soaking. When I got it all back together, she fired up perfectly, and ran great.
This is the first time since I got the bike that it was able to rev past 4000 rpm, and run with the choke turned off.
Damn I love my CB.
Dan.
