a guy named Devin, he's doing a gsxr swap on the his 750 digned one that bolts right up. Its better than having to make a plug and chopping up the original one. I feel like its too critical of a part to have it spliced and welded, especially since its aluminum. Its $100 and i will press it in myself once it gets here. Its going to take about 3 weeks to get the stem.
Jojo,Any idea if your supplier would be willing to spit out another stem, Im interested. Thanks

Quote from: edwardmorris on October 11, 2013, 12:37:21 PMAny pix of your recent progress Joe?Ill have some up soon. I had some issues with the transmission not shiffting correctly so i had to split the cases again now im waiting on a new set of allen bolts for the engine. I feel like i spend more time waiting for parts than working on my project :/
I did, thats how i removed the first one. The second one just wont budge, i think the threads are done. I was torquing according to the shop manual.
Or EDM the bolt and all is left is the spiral ofthe thread - like hellicoil - and you just pull that out

I was torquing according to the shop manual. When I read the manual I could only find torque values for the bearing cap bolts which I believe are larger diameter than the outer case bolts. So if you used this torque value then that could be why they are snapping off. Quote from: jojo on October 22, 2013, 09:38:59 AMI did, thats how i removed the first one. Good info.IW
Try the bushing method i suggested with the other case half guiding it straight. Or.. Another EDM shop.. They way I understand it an EDM can burn a hex hole in it, then insert allen wrench, turn it out,,
