a guy named Devin, he's doing a gsxr swap on the his 750 digned one that bolts right up. Its better than having to make a plug and chopping up the original one. I feel like its too critical of a part to have it spliced and welded, especially since its aluminum.  Its $100 and i will press it in myself once it gets here. Its going to take about 3 weeks to get the stem.

Really 100 bucks for a new press in stem and it takes about 3 weeks to get it wow I want that info
It cost me a little bit more than that just to cut plugged n welded

Spazz/Squirley- I spoke to Devin and I know he has some being churned out right now but not sure how many of them are already spoken for.  You can give him shout over the phone, he said it was ok for me to post his info. Its on his website as well. Stand up dude, he's been really helpful since i first sent him a message.

One of the main reasons for my engine rebuild was to get to a second gear that kept popping out and forcing me to jump from first to third. After reading a bit it looks like this was caused by a bad dog ear or snap ring. Anyways, I am now at the point where i need to put it all back together but I need some direction. The guy that sold me the bike gave me a transmission but turns out he actually gave me 2 transmissions so now i have 3! What are some things i need to look at while trying to piece together the best possible transmission while at the same time fixing the issue.

for reference.

I'm kinda anticipating the same, I suppose winter will work out just fine though, can't ride it anymore out here.

Make a sleeve to slip fit in case hole, ith a bit sticking out to grab with thin pliers..drill id to  1/8 or 3/16.. The drill with lefthand drill.

here are the offenders.

Uploaded with ImageShack.com

managed to get one out but the other one isnt budging.... i found an edm place that will get it out for me but the threads will be ruined. Is it possible to fasten this part of the case with something else (bolt/screw) or possibly retap to a larger diameter

Did you try an easy out or left hand drill bit? Once the head is sheared off all the tension should be removed from the threads so it shouldn't be too hard to back it out ... unless the threads are mangled.

What torque value are you using? You weren't trying to torque those ones to the same value as the main bearing cap bolts were you?

I did, thats how i removed the first one. The second one just wont budge, i think the threads are done. I was torquing according to the shop manual.

Try the bushing method i suggested with the other case half guiding it straight.

Or.. Another EDM shop.. They way I understand it an EDM can burn a hex hole in it, then insert allen wrench, turn it out,,

When I read the manual I could only find torque values for the bearing cap bolts which I believe are larger diameter than the outer case bolts. So if you used this torque value then that could be why they are snapping off.

I always wondered how that worked when people said they would get it "wire EDM'd out." Good info.

Or EDM the bolt and all is left is the spiral ofthe thread - like hellicoil - and you just pull that out

hey guys thanks for the input i really appreciate it. I managed to get a machine shop help me out with drilling out the old bolt, re-tap it, and install a heli coil so its all fixed up and ready to go.

It was kind of a blessing in disguise. I realized there was some oil left over from when i used some on the tranny gears and the case didnt seal correctly. Anything in particular i should do or lookout for before I seal them back up again?

finally got my wheels all laced up and trued and the tires are mounted and balanced. more progress finally. Still going to have the rotors redrilled to have them fit the new harley hub.

To those considering this GSXR swap... after doing it myself, sourcing, parts having spacers, buying new rotors etc i wouldn't do it again. I would just buy the plug and play hub instead. I ended up spending more money this way than if i had just bought it and used my current wheel, bearings, rotors, and calipers. It would have been a lot less work, about a 150 less, and less headaches and custom fab work (caliper spacers, hubcentric rings, buying new rotors)
