Topic: 18" chrome front fender

I'm looking for a chrome front fender to fit my 1971 CB500 with an 18" front wheel. I really like the look of the stock fender with the braces. Would the fender off of any of the 400s or 450s be a direct bolt on or am I looking at having to fab mounting brackets for it?

It took me a long time, but finally 4 hours in the local salvage yard netted the result. I put an 18" front wheel on my CB750 and wanted the stock look to the front fender. It is a CB350F front fender. You'd never know it from stock 19", except that its 18. Fender stays and the works. Cost me $5 each.

YEs I got 2 of them. One was bobbed in the front, which I am using. The other is full circle. But I'm afraid I can't let it go.

But you have your answer. IT wasn't a direct bolt up. The stays work fine. But the center saddle bracket has to be removed and yours fitted in its place. In my case, the center bracket is my fork brace and I bolted the fender to that.

OK. The day may come. Keep an eye on eBay in the meantime.  Here's a pic of mine. The speedo cable stay and grommet all stock. That was the look I was going for as well.


A quick look at the 400F fish shows the fender is also 18" with 2 stays and a later one with 1 stay with a nice rounded front on the leading edge. Removal of the center bracket is easy. Grind the heads off the 4 rivets. If you are lucky you can fasten your bracket in place with nuts and bolts. I've done this before as well.  The bracket issue is the bolt pattern where it bolts to the fork legs.

Since the pic, I've reshaped the leading edge of the front fender to be more... appealing, to me at least.

How much ofthe tire does it cover, looks narrowish.
If you dont have to say Honda, Yamaha has some 18 inch.. RD 400 i think..

Pretty much same as CB350G (disc brake model)
All are for 18" wheel

I have a 110/80 tire on a 2.15 rim (1.85 stock) The fender, looking down from the top, covers the tire, but just.

Stock on a 500 is probably 90/ on a 1.85 rim.

I reduced it from stock: 4.00/18 on a 2.15 rim to a 140/70-17" tire on a 3.50" rim.
