I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

I'm glad i ran across this page, just picked up a 77 matic, quick carb job and shes up and running. still dont know what i'm doing with it yet, still got the 74 and 78 ss to get around to. Is there any real demand on these? or should i just use it for parts for the others?  I originally thought cafe, but that tank is too big and bulky for cafe in my opinion. Would other year tanks bolt on like say a 71?  thanks.

Why not a Hondamatic cafe racer? Hondamatics are cool and cafe racers are cool, therefore..... I just like those bikes, but I'm a sucker for older lookin' bikes. I wish I had one, although I would probably put a smaller profile gas tank on her so she would look as sporty as my F   ;) I thought Spanners/Ray's was really nice looking. Once i saw his I decided I liked'em.

I just found this thread while looking for something else.
My comments in the thread were made before I had built my CB750 auto cafe/street ET drag bike.
A poster asked could a matic cut it in the performance stakes.
Well the bike got built and geared down quite a bit turned low 12s on the strip with 116mph terminal speeds.

A lot of performance is in the torque converter, these transmissions share some parts with the early Honda cars.
