It was a beautiful day to finally end the winter slumber! Put in the battery, squirted some MMO in the cyls, primed the engine with the plugs out and just watched in awe when it fired right up roaring on all four ;D I was dreading the worst and preparing for a full carb clean etc. but that FuelMed-RX sure works wonders. Inflated the tires, lubed the chain did a bunch other little things and went out for a quick shakedown run, its just as smooooooooooth as I left it ;) Few things left to do are put the tank trim back on and install new battery strap and tank rubber, both the reconditioned ones have stretched out too loose. More pix after some more riding later.  I was riding late into November last year and I think it got too cold to apply the White Diamond sealer to the aluminum, there's a super thin film of it that I can see, but its polishing right off, so gotta do that too.

Alas, that sad day of winterizing and putting it away was here. It was 75F here yesterday and its mid November! Went out down to Lowell and back for the final ride through the fall colors. I need a GoPro for next year, Indiana has some of the best fall scenery.

What a PITA, feels like there are freakin square miles worth of aluminum and chrome surfaces to clean and polish. Candy Gold got the usual Maguiar's Gold Class Carnuba (and now the pretty things smells delicious :P). Tank got the Fuel Med Rx winter prep on the ride yesterday, will fill it up this weekend per instructions and pull the battery. Fresh Spectro oil as well, should be ready to go next season. I won't obsess and change it again before riding like I did this year. Felt horrible draining out that clean fresh oil.

Don't mind these horrendous cell phone pix, the bike STILL looks great and turns heads.

75 degrees, nice! Just rode to a bike night here, and it was mid 40's! (But that's about as bad as it will get hopefully!) winter is coming

Page 50 images fixed! Phew, believe it or not I anticipated a $hitty move from photophucket sooner or later, sooo glad all my build pix were direct uploads here and only the photoshoot ones were on PB. Everything (from me) is entirely on this thread now.

Boy, am I late for this thread, totally wonderful bike, gives me inspiration as I work my K3 over.
It's so great to see these machines restored, nothing new really looks like a bike that has some
classic beauty, they all look like props from a Transformer movie. There are a few exceptions (CB1100, some Triumphs) but very few.
The CB750 just makes a beautiful piece of rolling art.

I am going to get a set of core oil lines to have made into stainless.
Also, I have a question
Does black powder coat work on a master cylinder? Anyone?
Yes, and thanks all in advance for helping me on my K3 journey.
Hopefully my head and cylinders made it to Hondaman this week, Marcel has my gauges, the frame goes to media blast next week.

Thanks! Yes, the MC and the controls along with the lettering are all PC. I've seem MCs PC'd but I still think only my bikes have the controls PC'd this way with the lettering detail. Forum member Marc aka powderman is the guy to talk to.

Edward
I'm thinking about picking up some oil line cores from EBay. Could you remind me what a set of stainless lines cost if I send cores? I'm restoring a K3. It is mostly stock, of course the lines would not be stock, I'm making a few other improvements partly due to our Maui environment such as stainless spokes.

Really nice job done here, attention to detail.
My next project is exactly the same year and colour once I finish the Rickman CR 750
Well done mate.  ;)

Thanks for the kind words. After looking at your collection, I must say that is high praise. I knew next to nothing when I started, which is testament to the power of this forum and its members.

Hey Edward, I'm surprised at the quality of your polishing work considering you said you were new to all this.  Were there any books you read, or was it all online knowledge?  Can you point me to the place in your thread where you took this task on?

Great looking bike.  It's clean enough to eat off of everywhere I look.  I especially like the brake caliper area.

Several scattered online sources and one particular member 73Nancy aka Ryan. He's a professional, and at one time even had a service that he offered here for members. I did detail my entire process in the VJMC magazine. If you're a member, you can still download the issue. Otherwise PM me and I will see if I can get you a copy.

On my K3 work so far I think the polishing is the biggest time investment, then you get to obsess over whether to coat it or not and if so, what with?.
My project is not all NOS, for example, I'm using stainless fasteners in a lot of places. Here on Maui one needs to be mindful of the effects of the marine environment.
I really am envious of Edwards project, absolutely beautiful.

I have found that a good coat of this was works rather well:
I also use a heat gun to melt it into the pores of the metal before wiping it clean.

My K3 did not have all the stickers on it. By any chance would you have any decent photos of the sticker placement? I see the one photo of the swing arm sticker, as well as the oil tank cover and fuel tank. I guess I need the battery and helmet holder locations and anything else I've missed.
I would really appreciate help. Your build is beautiful.
Thank you

Hard to see but here's the battery box warning one, the K2 didn't have a helmet holder sticker so can't help you on that one. I'm not sure if the K3s even had that one.

Not the best pic, but its right next to the ground/negative/black cable.
