Take the float (pin out to the side, drop float) out of 2 and 3 to ensure no debris in the needle valve. The needle should drop out when you take the float out... be careful not to lose it!

So it seems that I'm dealing with sticky floats, as in they're sticking to the damned bowl walls. Once I dropped bowls on 2 and 3, checked things and put them back, 3 was dry and 2 started overflowing. Fixed that, checked again, 3 was still dry 4 started overflowing. Fixed that, squeezed the floats together to clear the bowl walls (thanks Bill) and gas rushed through and filled it. Still need to drop the 1 bowl and squeeze the floats together, its very hit or miss with that one.

Half a kick and it started right up, firing on all 4 for the first time, but the idle is stuck at 4000RPM even after fully backing off the idle adjust screw. I had bench synced them with a machinist's wire following the manual's instructions and leaving 1-1/2 thread visible on the top. Don't think I have  choice but to take the tank off and keep working.

I HIGHLY recommend that you purchase one of these.  Go ahead and pull the tank, hook this guy up and get all of your testing done with it.

I have that along with Morgan Carb tune, will use it for the sync, I think I'm about to wrap it up here, firing on all four, just need to figure out the idle. I lower the slide heights, probably a bit too much as it won't hold anymore, may have to raise them back a notch again.

I learned an interesting thing from James, the 550/750 floats look nearly identical. But the 550 floats are wider and catch on the sides of the bowls. Side by side, you can clearly see the difference. DusterDude just dealt with this issue.

Don't know if thats plaguing yours, but worth a peek if they hang up again (compare to original floats in your other bike).
Unfortunately neither bike came with original anything except the carb bodies. I have all NOS brass in there, part numbers are right for the 750. They weren't too bad, gentle squeeze and they're all behaving now, filling up fine and not overflowing anymore. Bigger issue was the slide height which was causing a 4K idle. Had to use the Bat Phone, slide height correct now, idles well under 1K (raised it since).

Oil pressure is good, I can't thank Ron/MCRider enough for loaning the gauge to me, I had an order with Joker machine but they said it would take five weeks. Crappy thing is, it took me longer than that to get it running. But, looking at that gauge when the engine ran properly the first time, I was so relieved the internals are good, something for which I'll always owe Ron.

Backtracking a little, this is the gas tank latch pin that was holding things up. Had JT overnight it so I could get it running. Didn't take pics of the NOS gas tank cap and petcock installed, but their part number pix are earlier in the thread.

Took it out for a spin, has 4 miles logged now, need to get tags before I can hit bigger roads. Has a few kinks that need to be worked out, front brake needs adjusting as it feels like its dragging. Rear brake was hardly engaging, but thanks to some help from Dave Z, I got it adjusted better than it was, still needs some work. Steering is a bit stiff, its expected I guess, need to see what can be done there. The idle had raised itself to 2K after it warmed up, need to readjust that.

Another huuuuuge relief is that its not smoking! The machine shop had a cow about the tight clearance, but they seem to have done it right. I'm afraid to look but I gotta do a close inspection for oil leaks and such, fingers crossed. The JMR (S1??) head is NIIIIICE, man does it want to run away.

Few things left to do like install the gas tank liners, handlebar mirrors, fork lock and cover, caution stickers etc. etc. Want to log some more good miles before trying to time it more closely and do the carb sync. Its getting there!

HOLY SHIZNIT!  That is one BEAUTIFUL bike, Rafi.
Definite BOTM material there.

You've just now established the standard for a 750 concourse level restoration like the one SOHRon did for the 500 / 550.

Thanks again guys, really means a lot. I should have completed the little bits today, but we were having just too much fun today at the Blackhawks party/rally near downtown Chi. Its insured and will hopefully get temp tags tomorrow, so I'll see what I can get done when I get home tonight.

Well I have to apologise for my absence here Rafi, it's been a crazy year, but all excuses aside, that bike looks magnificent mate, for a "first timer", you've put a lot of "pro's" to shame, what a fantastic job you've done, that bike looks better than new, and I remember them when they were new!

That's definitely a BOTM winner, and a BOTY candidate, for sure! Good job mate, congratulations. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

@Terry!! Thanks for stopping by mate and also for the kind words, I'm really thankful for you help and encouragement early on along with Mark, Gordon and several others.

@Jerry! Thanks! Yours is the K2 that most of my inspiration for this build came from. Believe it or not, my original plan was to paint the tank and side covers red and make it look like the bike in the first Terminator movie  :o. Just have a few loose ends to tie up, then I'll take some good pix with an actual camera this weekend for sure.

@Nick I'm about 20 miles from downtown Chi, stop by anytime! Yep, tires were slightly low, all fixed now.

Thank you guys, I really appreciate the love for the bike, and I thank you all again for helping me get it here. I've been struggling to find time between the demanding day job, all the Blackhawks madness and fasting all at once. I'm aiming to finish the last of the bits this weekend and do a few shakedown runs now that I've got it registered. I was hoping for some sweet custom plates but some lawsuit has that on hold :(.

Some questions:

1) I had 3 qts. in it at startup, oil pressure is good. Do I need to add any more since it was on an entirely empty crankcase?
2) There is a micro weep at the brake bleeder, most likely at the top where the cap goes. I'm afraid to tighten this anymore as it will definitely strip. I'll try just installing the cap first, but if the weep is at the thread, what can be done?
3) Is riding it for about 5 miles considered a good warm up? I want to do the dynamic timing soon as that one sporadic "pop" on #4 at idle doesn't want to go away.

1. Check it when warm, and vertical (nearly) but not on the centerstand. Likely you need another 1/2 qt. But it will live fine on 3qts.

2. a wrap of teflon tape is not unheard of.

3. Yes IMO. Is exhaust valve too tight, on #4.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure I had all the valves adjusted to where the gauges slides through with slight resistance (I know, terrible measure of anything) but I'm planning on redoing that and the cam chain after a few good runs. The cam is NOS, and I remember reading a post by Mark that the clearances will have to be checked as they'll change after the parkerizing wears off the new cam.
