Pages missing from CB550 manual
« on: September 17, 2013, 10:03:06 AM »
I was going to reference the CB500/550 manual from the FAQ section.
It looks like pages 7 and 8 are missing from the engine section. Which is the part that describes the carb synch procedure.

I'm going to perform this on my friend's 74 CB550.

1) Need to know if #2 is non-adjustable like on later PD carbs.
2) Need to know if this is the correct adjustment.

I just did this on my 77 550F.  Yes that is the correct adjustment, there is a locknut on each screw that you will need to loosen before adjusting.  #2 on mine was adjustable also but I still treated it as the 'control' for the other 3.  Be sure to check your gauges after you tighten the locknut also, they will change slightly.

On the old style Kei-hins there wasn't a mothercarb. All were adjustable.

i'm afraid it isn't. That photo is from the section that describes a complete disassembly and reassembly, a practice hardly ever necessary.
Please consult the pages offered in http://www.honda4fun.com/pdf_man_officina/pdf_manuali/CB500-550/CB500-550-K_01.pdf
and refrain from unnecessary labour.

Awesome, thanks for the link.

The picture was just to reference which screw was the adjustment. I know the procedure if different than a complete diassembly.
