Hello from Brunei!
« on: September 18, 2013, 04:22:29 AM »
Hello all!
I don't have a bike yet but I am considering buying a 550f which I have seen for sale locally.
Fingers crossed eh?
I look forward to being an active member of the forum.
Cheers
Jon

Welcome from Texas, Dry.  The 550F was my first Honda, is a fine start.

Where is Brunei?

Well done! Yes - it is very small. Tucked along the edge of the Island of Borneo. Hot and Humid! 8)
Also a dry country so if I want alcohol I have to take a 30 minute trip to the border - which is a little like Tijuana in 1982, without the donkeys painted up as zebras.

Humid and dry? Bad combo!

So, back to the 550F.  When are you hoping to see it?  Got pics??

I have one picture which arrived on whatsapp. The seller is being a bit shifty about a price so I need to get it checked out. I don't have a clue what to offer until I know how mechanically sound it is! I just need to work out how to load the image.....

Believe you need 5 posts before you can upload a pic.
A lot of us use Photobucket to copy/paste the direct link to the pic.

Ok!  Now this is the part where we pick it apart, please don't take it personal.

Seat cover, painted frt fender and cylinder not original as well as tank, all easily restored back if desired.
Is that rust on the exhaust?  Not easy to find original replacements and expensive when good ones are found.

Ok I'm impressed! All from one grainy photo! I will try to see it this weekend - or get the owner to send some better pictures through.
I'm sure that there are several aftermarket parts on the bike due to the fact that parts are probably even harder to come by on a small island.
Thanks for the info so far. So the tank isn't original? That is interesting you can tell from that photo! Well done.

The tank paint and scheme are not original.  Learn more here....
