'80 cb900 fuel leak and ignition coil crack
« on: September 19, 2013, 03:56:15 PM »
I got a 1980 cb900c with 18k miles on it. 2k in the past 3 months...I am in the process of rebuilding my carbs due to a BAD fuel leak from the overflow nipple. I sprung this leak about 30 miles from home (a few minutes after maxing my spedo for 60 seconds or so) I was loosing fuel from carb #3 at a substantial rate. I could feel and hear a difference in the ride. If I didn't keep at least 2.5k rpm I would sputter to a stop. I figured it was a carb issue. When I got my tank off, I found a crack in the left ignition coil.

So for the Q's.. Does this sound like a carb problem to ya'll? Ignition coil? I have the carbs torn down, all the floats seemed to be functional...Opinions? Thanks
