Topic: Gs500 does not start

Hey guys just want to ask for some advise. My friend has a gs500. When he was riding along the highway it died on him. Theres gas in the carbs, spark plug is sparking. Not sure what it could be. Also he hasn't checked his oil and when it broke down the engine oil was dry to the bone. Could it be the valves? Open to anything. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the reply sam. I know this is the wrong forum to post on. But I know people here are very knowledgeable. We topped up the oil and still will not start.

Fuel and spark are the obvious places to start but from what you say he has both.
If he overheated and locked up the engine it may be toast, did he run a compression test on the cylinders after the shutdown?

Thanks dukie. The engine isnt seized. The starter motor turn the engine easily. We havent ran a compression test though. Well get that going in the next couple days. Would a poorly timed ignition cause a bike to not start? This bike has a magnetic pickup ignition (stock)
