I was a fan of Gilligan's Island. I worked with "Ginger" on a small film. What a nasty #$%*! To think of all the tissues other young Men wasted on her.
I think she was pissed off that she never really got to be a big time star and thought the show was beneath her. But in reality it's a great show that seems timeless....everybody watched it at one time...it's a classic. What TV star wouldn't want to be part of a show that's still popular 45 years after it was made? In fact it's on right now on one of the nostalgia channels.....gotta go.
I am sure she felt Gilligan sank her career, that is most likely not true. She was a Movie Star and not really an actress. She was 30 when Gilligan came along. She did a lot of TV after that.
I had one good conversation with her when we first met. I was told that never mention Gilligan or Bob Denver. She told me about working with Dean Martin who actually rarely drank, and would sit in his Trailer and watch Westerns between takes. After that she was #$%*ty to everyone and after her 3 days on the set, everyone was happy to see her good. I suspect much of her best acting was on her back.
