Me and my first Honda
« on: September 24, 2013, 07:29:28 PM »
Here I am on my CT70 mini trail in the early 70's. Don't remember this but my aunt who is 95 years old now took this pic 40 plus years ago at my parents house in the front yard. The house and yard are long gone and their is now a Interstate Hwy that runs right where this pic was took all those years ago.

Great pic d.  You must have been in heaven, new bike to ride and a big yard to tear it up.

My first moped was a '65 Allstate that my Dad bought for me, it hit 42 mph one time, going downhill!

i grew up in a city so I was always jealous of kids that had dirt bikes and yards to ride them in.  My first bike was a CB350 in 1982.  I was 16 and paid $300 for it.  Once I had the carbs cleaned and tuned it ran great for the rest of the time I owned it.  I rode all over on that thing even though I did not have a licence or permit.

Sadly I don't remember what I did with it.  I don't remember selling it yet I don't still have it.  that sums up most of the 80s for me.

Yeah Mag back than it was out in the sticks as I use to call it. Lived on a dirt road for years before it was ever paved. I remember a truck spraying oil out on the road to keep the dust down. Try that today and seen how fast they throw you in jail. At the top of pic behind me and on the other side of the row of trees there was around a 5 acre field me and my buddy rode in. Took our bikes out on the road alot and of course this was before we had our drivers lic. and at times my older stupid cousin would call the law on us. Yes those were the days. And now days with the Hwy and all the other changes you would never know 40 years ago a 14 year old boy rode his Honda 70 here.

My first Honda.  A 70 CB450.  Bought it new at Anderson's in Pontiac, MI.  $1102.00 out the door.  I was 21, single and working at Chrysler Trenton Engine plant.  Plenty of spending money.  Kept it for 3 years and sold it to buy a 73 H-D XLH Sportster.  The 450 never had a problem keeping up with my riding buddies 650 BSA's and Triumph's.

The first Honda I actually owned, a shiny new '63 CB77, cost maybe $600, as I recall.
Did a lot of stoopid things on that bike.......
Check out the Space Age bubble goggles.
If I bent over like that now, I'd probably get stuck......

Great old pic of you your CB450. Did you ever regret selling it to get the Harley.
Fenders a member here loves the 450's. He will be glad to here you ran with the 650's with no trouble.

The only regret was watching the idiot that bought the bike from me drive away like a maniac.  I could hear him winding every last RPM out of it.  If I remember the 450's had about 45 HP and the 650 Brits were about 53 HP, so no problem.  The Sportster was fun, but I only got to keep it a year as our car took a dump (I got married in 1972) and sold it to buy another vehicle.

Hi gang.My first Honda was a brand spanking new in the crate 1970 Candy Ruby Red 750.Still have it!
Do you have a early pic of it City? That's great to still have your first Honda from 43 years ago and a KO at that. I had 5 Honda's from 1970-76, the first was the CT70 and the last was a 76 CB550. Didn't hold on to any of them I just sold or traded up to get the next one. Now being 56 years of age instead of a teenager I wish I had held on to everyone of them.
The pic of my CT70 is dated Dec 71, but I think the photo was took much earlier and wasn't developed until than. By this date I had already traded in the Mini Trail for a new 1971 SL175. I've posted this pic before but just thought I would show it again here. As you can tell the pic was taken about in same place as the CT70.
