Threaded ports in 750 Cyl heads
« on: September 28, 2013, 04:32:53 AM »
Has any one ever attempted to remove the threaded ports in the cyl heads ? I was thinking it may be the source of a vacuum leak . After going thru my carburetors and installing new rubber tubes on both sides of my carburetor's .My air bleeds are only adjusted out about 1/16 of a turn . Carbs are have been synchronized with 8" of vacuum at each one . The idle is at 1,100 rpm's

Search a little for threads but be forwarned that they may be sealed in and they are very fragile when they are manhandled. Think I would look for other causes first before I started messing with them.  Here is a little Sat morning reading to get you started   http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=35099.0

This is about the intake spigots, right?
Check if there is a leak before removing them. Do you have correct inlet rubbers (carb boots)? K0 type has shorter end at the head spigot.

Correct clamps? They must be the narrow type and not a general rather wide hose clamp that will become oval when tighten it.

Thanks for the information . I'm going to leave them alone . After reading the post it sounds like a accident waiting to happen . Yes I have the correct rubber  to head tubes . I'll check on the clamps .  I believe the idle should be alought more smoother .It's not really rough . I'm comparing it to my 1976 550 .
