Topic: 78' CB550 clutch part question. Help Please!!

 Hi all, I am in dire emergency to get my 1978 cb550 back on the road before winter comes. Here's my question:

I need a new clutch adjustment lever and screw. The little screw that sticks out of the clutch cover. Mine snapped. Anyways I see my part number as being

#22831-333-020 and is discontinued from Honda.

On eBay there is a clutch adjustment lever with screw and the part number is different by 1 number:

#22831-334-010

This part says is fits 76 and 77 550s. Now, Will it fit the 78 clutch cover? Can I just order this part and only use the adjustment screw if need be? Basically all I need is the screw part. My lever is fine.

Any input will be so greatly appreciated.

Hi Kenny,

a couple of years ago, I extracted all the parts lists from cmsnl.com building a cross-reference database.

It says that part no. 22831-333-010 is superseded by 22831-333-20 meaning that it's basically the same part - maybe produced by a different factory with minor changes.

So, you can definitely use either part. It will work

Hey Carsten! Thanks so much for that info. I think I'll go ahead and order the part. Hopefully it gets to Toronto from Texas ASAP so I can enjoy the last of the nice weather.
