What screw to hold tach and speedo cable in place?
« on: September 26, 2013, 02:58:21 PM »

My bike never came with a tach or speedo cable and now that I am installing them I realize I don't have the screws to hold them into place

Is there a special screw or will something ordinary work to hold them in place?

Cables? Clocks? Be more specific please.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

So, the screw that attaches the speedo cable to the lower drive on the front wheel and the screw on top of the engine where the tacho cable attaches?

Something ordinairy will work as long as it's metric fine thread (1mm) I believe, and countersunk.

No, they are not the same. I got pissed at the speedo screw so I just EZ outed the little bastard  got a hex head at the hardware store. They really only catch a groove so they are not high stress. I think if you go to a Honda dealer site they have parts fiches online and it will tell you the size of the screws.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Any old metric will do then. Just make it fit.  ;D
Not a hard job. I was stuck for a speedo one and knocked something together. Isn't the tacho the same as the engine casing screws?

Cool, I've got a bunch of bolts, one of them should work in there

Just wanted to confirm it wasn't anything special
