Took my wife for a ride on the K0. O boy I did it now.
« on: September 26, 2013, 09:00:38 pm »
I finally got the K0 running well with all the go fast goodies. I took my wife to a barbeque place a few mies out of town tonight on the bike. She was so impressed.  It is FAST.
She asked, where did we get this bike?  I replied, remember a couple years ago when we bought that old 750 out in the country and you were so proud of me? This is the one we bought that night.
I'm thinking I could sneak in another one or two and she wouldn't even notice.

Good for you!  My wife did not get on a motorcycle since we got back from Paris in 1995.  She was pregnant already - btw to travel far with pregnant wife is a BAD idea :) - and she felt it too risky for kids to lose both of us in case of an accident.

Now you're wife sounds a bit like mine :)

I bought a project to flip. I've been working on it for the past couple of months between house and rental property projects. All I hear is, "I thought you were just going to sell that bike for a bunch of money?"

I will sell it for a profit but after I a go through it and clean it up a bit. Wives just don't understand.

The good thing is she does like to ride with me 2 up.

I mentioned they are worth more than I have in them, she said that didn't matter because I'd never sell one. so, I told her after I'm gone she can double the money I have in the Honda's. She said it didn't matter she was going to die first. Being annoyed by that remark, I asked her if she promised.

She's a keeper. She wants my daughter and I to drag race worse than I do. Sometimes worse than my daughter does.
I have a need to create things, my 40 street rod and 69 firebird are too expensive right now. The Hondas I can do without breaking the bank. Well, I sorta bruised it.

pssst. Keep it quiet, but she's talking to me again.
I was wrong. She did notice when I bought another one, but it was the one after that made her a bit ouchy. I'm still under the budget she gave me for the first one and I got two. I thought I did good. O crap, here she comes, gotta go.

No it was a local auction. A friend had a shop way back when and he recently passed away. I wanted to make an offer on the bikes when he was sick but didn't feel right about it. I only heard about the auction by accident and was fortunate to buy the sandcast. They were surprised how much it went for and invited me to make an offer on the dragbike too, (privately after the sale) The sandcast rear wheel was on the dragbike so of course I had to buy it too. I parted out and stored my brothers junkpile a couple years ago and have most of what both bikes need. Just luck or maybe good karma.
And my wife got used to the idea too.

Talking about wives. When I got the K3 as a 25th anniversary present from her, (her ring was alot more $$ than my bike was)! She was reluctant to ride on it with me. Well after a couple months she went with me, and from then on she was my riding partner. After a couple of seasons of hanging on tightly to me. She mentioned that we should look at getting a bigger HONDA for comfort and longer rides. I showed her a Goldwing and she says "buy it" I said OK  ;) That was a couple years ago now and we are having a blast on the Wing. And I get to ride the ol 750 with recklass abandon again! Best of both worlds!  8)

We rode my brothers 76 naked wing she really liked it. I think it's a little clunky but she thought it was smooth and it fits us better too. now that we're, er, more mature.

We walked past the guitar store tonight and the purple metalflake J Mascis Jazzmaster is hanging on the wall. 6 months to get a book and over a year to get a pedal. Sure, as soon as I buy Hondas it shows up.
They ordered it hoping I would buy it. What a bad time for it to come in. NO WAY am I bringing home a purple metalflake guitar this year. Even I know I'm on the edge.

I've come to the realization that 99% of women don't care about things with motors unless they can ride in/on them and look hot.  My ex-girlfriend would roll her eyes every time i bought a new parts bike or pile of parts, but as long as i said "it was a really good deal" she usually perked up and was satisfied.

you see what i did there?  i did the same thing the women do when it comes to buying shoes!!  "well, they were a really good deal, so i *had* to buy them!!"  ----  I'M LEARNING!!   bwahahaha

True. she admitted not minding the sandcast because it was a deal. The dragbike however was another story.
