G'day from downunder!
« on: September 27, 2013, 05:38:52 AM »
Hi all,

I've just found the forum and thought I'd say hello.

I've just purchased a 1977 CB750K7 from the USA and am now working through the details to get it shipped to Australia.  This is my second K7, having purchased my first one new in '78.

Cheers,

Russ

Thanks for the welcomes guys.  I seem to be having trouble posting a reply to this thread.  I've tried twice so far but it disappeared each time.  Third time lucky hopefully!

Russ.

That looks like it worked okay - I don't know what I was doing wrong this morning!

Trueblue - I'm at Trinity Beach mate, just north of Cairns.

Flatlander - all of the SOHC Honda fours were very popular in Australia back in the day.  Perhaps a little too popular as 99% of them invariably went through multiple owners and each one of them tended to flog the poor machines to death.  Couple that with the odd bit of 'customising' work carried out by each successive owner and good original examples became very thin on the ground.

I was after a good original one and was lucky enough to buy a two owner 1977 K7 in beautiful unmolested condition with the owners manual, spare key and 7,500 miles on the clock.  I bought it from a guy in Rhode Island who purchased it from the original owner in 1979.  A bike like that is just about impossible to find for sale in Oz, so I'm happy to pay the extra for importation etc.  Yeah, it costs a bit but hey - it's only money mate!

I just cant wait to sit my bum on the seat and take a scoot down memory lane.  It's been 35 years since I realised the dream of buying my first one so I reckon I'm going to enjoy this!

Cheers,

Russ

ozpacman: thanks, that makes sense. it's similar over here. it took me ages to find a 550 that's original and not totally run down - or hopelessly overpriced. but you can still find them. wouldn't have occurred to me, to get one from across the pond.
